If this is in the wrong place can a mod please move.

I have bought what I believe is a diamond in the rough. I just bought a '72 Skylark 2-door hard-top with "believed" to be 27,xxx original miles. I have some documentation back to '74. I believe the car had 4,xxx miles on it in '74 and from '78-'79 the woman had only put 800 miles on it as documented from license paperwork. Car has not been licensed since '92, and not been driven in 8-9 years. I bought from a 94 year old woman going into a nursing home. It is a 350 2 barrel, auto., bench seat front and rear seat has been covered since new. I have put on new rubber brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cyl., rebuilt carb. and back flushed fuel lines and tank. Really what I'm trying to figure out is what direction to go with this car. I'm new to Buicks and this car was kind of a deal that I couldn't refuse. What would this car be worth now if I were to just sell it? Car has been repainted by a "shade-tree" body man. Int. is mint besides for drivers side stitching coming apart, dash is perfect. Any info. I can get on this car would be great as I know there are several people on here that are walking dictionaries on these cars. I can get the no's. off of the firewall if need be but I have the vin 4H37H2H140705. I can send pics if needed. Thanks in advance people.

Nothing like seeing the car either in person best case or by a pic. A 72 will not bring what a 70 will. A column shift 350 skylark 2 barrel may have its highest value for use with a 455. I will say 6-11K as a range.

As I said before I am new here but I can email you pics that I have and get more if needed. I really have no idea what to do with this car so if I could send you the pics and you could "advise" me on which way to go. If someone wants this car to restore it would be great since everything works, a/c included, but I tend to start doing things and they end up being to extreme to go back and I'd hate to go chopping on this thing. If it is going to go up pretty considerably in value I can afford to just sit on it, store it and drive now and again.

Welcome and congratulations on your find...from your description it sounds like a decent Skylark. If I were you, I would drive it and enjoy it as I made repairs and improved its appearance.

It's probably a 4- 5k car as is. So holding it and waiting for it to appreciate is probably not a great investment plan. On the flip side, it's not going to depreciate much either.

Original Skylarks are great drivers, very comfortable, smooth, quite, and reliable. (Typical for a Buick)

Good luck with your Skylark. :TU:
