I know I had this information before but I can't find it now so I figured someone here would know. I have a 1960 LeSabre with a 2-barrel 364. What oil filter do I need? How many quarts do I put in when changing the oil and filter, and what kind of oil should I use? Thanks!

According to autozone.com, your options for filter are:
STP - S25
Fram - PH25
Mobil 1 - M1-203 (best quality filter for the money)
K&N - HP-2003
AC Delco - PF24

Also, Napa Gold filters were at one time manufactured by Wix, who made very good quality filters. I don't know if they still are, though.

I don't have my Chilton's in front of me here at work, and I can't find anything online, but I would hazard a guess that your oil capacity is somewhere around 4 quarts. If you have the original dipstick, it should be engraved above the markings. Filter capacity varies, but in my experience it adds about 1/3-1/2 quart to the total capacity.

Yup I found the filter number. The dipstick says 4 quarts but I did not know if that was with or without filter. What oil should I run? I have 10w-30 and 5w-30 on hand for other cars but I can get more.

Here's another question: Resistor or non-resistor plugs? I'm sure this is basic old-car stuff but I'm from the fuel injection and disk brake generation so I'm still learning.

I use Rotella 10w30 (kind of hard to find in some areas, though), but I don't have any external oil leaks and change it frequently. Don't fall for the "old cars need heavy oil" trick, but I don't think you need to go as low as 5w30 unless you get really cold in the winter.

WRT plugs, I like to go old school. I just think that high-tech plugs weren't really meant for a low-tech engine.
