Please help!!!!!
I live in South Afrika and just blew the water pump on my 1970 Skylark 350, I can’t seem to get any help locally so I’m asking on this board. I don’t know what pump the engine uses, are there more than one that will fit? And what are the part numbers? Is there a differance between 1969 to 1971?
Thanx

Does your car have air conditioning? I'll try to get part numbers & get you steered to a supplier who may be able to get it.
Not positive but pretty sure the 350 waterpump was common from '68-74, differences found only when comparing AC to non AC.
What local suppliers do you have for auto parts?

Thank you for the response Steve. It does have AC and I don't think i will be able to source it locally so need the the part no. to order online or use as reference when enquiring locally.

Go to www.NAPA online.com.
Scroll through their menu under heating & cooling ,entering year, make model etc. & you will eventually arrive at a list of three pumps available. New or rebuilt & a couple different manufacturers. Contact information is on their site for purchase & shipping.
Carquest PN is 58110 but they do not have an online catalogue.
Don't forget the gasket & gasket sealant. While the pump is off is also a good time to flush the engine coolant, change the t'stat & inspect the hoses.
Take the fan off & then the fan shroud. This will give plenty of room to work on the car.

careful with the napa website. I picked up my napa pump per their info and it was incorrect. I have an AC car I had to go with a 68 skylark to find the correct pump as napa's info only had one water pump listed for a 70 skylark with a 350.

I will never go to Napa- ever again. I was sent sbc pushrods FOUR times by THREE different stores when I was re doing my motor. And when I told them I wanted an OEM replacement radiator for my car, they sent my a 1 row plastic tanked pos.
I about hopped across the counter at the guy who said he saw me in the store ordering it and that was exactly what I had asked for. I dont think I have ever been so pissed at a parts guy my entire life- thankfully the guy I actually ordered it from walked in the room at that same time and calmed me down and gave me the right one with no price difference.

Gerry is right.........buy a new one rather than rebuilt. Rebuilt is just that but many have had good luck with them. New is always best in my opinion & considering your location & parts availability, this should be an easy choice.
