on my 63 LeSabre with 401 cid, power steering and AC? There are four pulleys, besides the harmonic balancer- the power steering pully, the water pump pulley, the AC pulley and the alternator pulley. Each pulley has three grooves. I currently have a short belt from the harmonic balancer to the power steering pump,which also goes around the water pump. When I got the car, there were two long belts running side by side in parallel along the alternator, AC pump,harmonic balancer, and water pump. These belts got chewed up quick and when I replaced them, I had to adjust the alt all the way out to tension them, and within four days they were so stretched they were hanging and not charging the battery.
So I think the power steering pump belt is correct, but now what about all the other stuff? Why am I wearing out brand new belts in four days? A pic would help.
