I pulled my dash bezel to put an air vent in and can't figure out where these wires go. It's two pink wires and one black wire that are in a connector. The two pinks connect together in the same slot and the black wire is in the next slot. I traced it to the wires that connect to the back of the rally guage. The wires are about three feet long. Where does it plug in?

I'd have to check the diagrams, but I think those are for rear window defroster motor......

I couldn't find anything on it in the Chassis Service manual. I'm stumped.:Do No:

Reynold,
Could be for the speed alert on the speedometer. I believe all cars were wired for it reguardless of whether they had it or not.

Just looked at the Chassis service manual- pink wires for speed alert, plug into back of speedo when so equipped

Could be, but I don't know for sure. I'd rather ask first than smell smoke later.:Dou: I see in the wiring diagram that there's two pink wires coming from the buzzer. One goes to the speedo, the other to the ignition buzzer switch. This wire set has TWO pink and ONE black in the same connector. I only have one pink in the wire set at the buzzer. The diagram shows two. I see in another diagram on page 120-89(diag.120-80) there is a pink wire that says "(2)" after it but it doesn't say anything about a black ground wire.:Do No:

Reynold,
I don't blame you for not wanting to do the "smoke test" I say it's time to break out the old ohmeter and do some continuity tests between the buzzer and your suspect connectors. I vote speed alert.:bglasses:

Sounds like a good idea to me. The schematic shows one pink at the speedo, coming from the buzzer. This thing has two pink and a black. The buzzer has a black and one pink on it. I don't know why the wire set would be 3' long to go 5" from the rally guage to the speedo. Go figure. Where is the seat belt buzzer? I see that has a pink wire and a black wire but I don't know where to find it?

Reynold,
Take a look behind the dash cover in the area of the horn relay. I think it is near there. Above the radio, behind the metal of the dash board.

This is the buzzer and horn relay according to the schematic and the descriptions in the manual. It buzzes for the speedo and ignition. The schematic shows a second, smaller buzzer specifically for the seat belts. I can't find it.

Under my 72' GS dash, I have a connector like that that dosn't do anything. Its like it was there incase I ever wanted to "add in something" When I checked mine, it is power when key is on, but not cranking. It also works on accessory position. I am pretty sure nobody has ever done work under my dash before, but I am not the original owner. Let me know if you figure it out.

That's what I'm hoping. The Chassis Manual doesn't clearly show what it's for, that's why I think it's an option also. I just want to make sure that it's electronically correct before I put a battery to it. It's been garaged without a motor and some electrical "handy work" since the early '90's. I just can't figure out what option.
