I'm going to be picking up a couple of used Hoosier slicks tomorrow. This is probably a stupid question but should I have them balanced when they're mounted on the rims? I've never had slicks before.

True racing slicks & not drag radials?
You may need inner tubes (though many don't run them, I've read Hoosiers don't need tubes) and should do a balance job. Don't be surprised if it takes a lot of weight to balance them. You may also find you'll have to screw them to the rims if they're slipping on you.

True slicks. I saw them displayed in the window of a used tire shop across the street from where I work. I asked if they were for sale and he said he didn't plan on it. But then he said how about $25?
There's a lot of life left in them.
