Thanks it was quite a bit of work but, it's cool I think to make your own "stuff" To me that's what hot rodding is all about! Any morron can build a Camaro or Mustang out of a catalog! I tried to fashion it from the good old "Star Wars" air cleaner. There sure was a lot of "custom" work on this one! The 9" rear end, the 75 impalla spindles fitting in the t-10 with a hyd. clutch etc....

...tough to do, particularly with an SP-1. Without a 1.5" drop base or a hood scoop it's difficult.

...need a scoop that can be converted back to a normal hood/aircleaner for street use.

Thanks all!
The air cleaner/box I made from 1/8 aluminum plate( & tubbing) and welded together. Before I welded them I used a ball nose end mill to mill the slots just for looks. I made this because even with the turbo hood I only had about 1.5" above the carb and couldn't get a air cleaner that fit. I tried a dropped base but it still wouldn't work. I tried to "fashion" it after the "StarWars" air box with a modern twist? After smoothing down all the welds I just painted it with BBQ paint ( looks good , cheap and easy to touch up if needed!) The "Buick" emblem I had made at a laser cutting local company. The air filters are out of the K&N catalog Cost next to nothing to make but lots of hours!!

I'll give you a ten on that one, everybody will think it's cool but the Buick folk out there will know exactly what you were after, great idea and craftmanship.
The car looks great too with the 4sp being the icing on the cake IMHO.Good job!:beer

I,m using the SP-1 that's why I had to make the custum air cleaner/box.

Have you raced it on the track yet? Any time slips?

No I haven't had it on a track yet. There isen't one anywhere near my town. I work at a Stockcar track ( Barrie Speedway nascar sanctioned) I'm a tech inspector. So Saturday night's are out for me . I put in 5 gallons of 115 octane race fuel last Sat. ( $80!!! )
This car is like a pitbull with AIDS! This is my first car with a standard shift so it could be me but....
I had it out on my way to a local cruise night and at 50 miles an hour when I punch it either the clutch slips or the rear tires break loose at about 4000rpm? I definetly could smell rubber a few times but at other times I thought I could smell clutch? I can 't use 1st gear at all. I have to start out in 2nd as the clutch ( I think its clutch?)really chatters. I think it still needs" a little refinement" All I can think of is that the hyd. line between the master and the slave is too small and not letting the clutch realese quick enough? but why does it work in the other 3 gears?:Do No:
I've noticed cracks between the rear window and the side window already though!:TU: Cool! This is without a doubt the fastest and most powerful car I have every owned or driven. It's a white knuckle ride!!!!

Nice work very cool car. You should get the criss cross brace in your trunk before the cracks get worse. Seriously they are not an eazy permanent fix. Tell us what you have in your engine heads cam etc. Haveing to buy race fuel for your street car sucks. And now with the price of fuel it really sucks.

And then you top it off by making it a stickshift!!! :TU:

I just tried some race fuel I don't really need it. It's about 10.1 It runs fine on high test pump gas . Cam is TA 290-94H , TA intake, headers, pocket ported stock heads. Roller rockers,
TA timming cover/oil pump. Nothing too crazy. I'm about to put in my 3rd clutch in 100 miles though. Stock just won't cut it! I just picked up a centerforce dual disc to put in. Hope that lasts better! Now it's OK till I get up to 4000RPM's then it slips.
