I just saw one in an local auction scheduled for this weekend. I really dont know anything about them. What do i need to look for regarding collectibility? Are they worth a pretty penny or are they a mid range collector car type deal? I've read up on some info regarding option packages and what is rare and what isnt on them, but im stumped as to an average selling price/what they are worth. Thanks in advance guys.

Well, they are probably not as collectible as some other cars. That being said, the baby Buicks are unique and it is a convertible. Unless you are going to a Buick meet, the odds are you won't see another at a show...even at Buick meets, you may not see them.

Aside from picking up an Old Cars Price Guide, I like http://www.manheimgold.com/ for prices. Actually, the ideal is to look at two or three price guides to get a better idea of where realistic prices are at, since some guides tend to be low and some tend to be high. Of course, I have seen references to prices softening with some of the economic issues going on the the U.S.

Another thing to consider is that these cars are fairly small and lightweight. With the V6 or the 2-bbl 215, you should be able to get over 20 mpg on the highway...I'm not sure if the 4-bbl sees similar mileage or not. That may be a consideration as gasoline is unlikely to drop in price in the future.

For what it is worth, even though it is a far cry from what I would consider a correct or completed car, my '62 Special convertible definitely garners a fair bit of attention.

Good luck.

The prices on the cars are all over the place. I seems to be dependent greatly on the condition of the car and options.
Fun cars and you will not see a dozen of them at car shows

To my knowledge, 63's aren't all that desireable. It is a convertible, though. I suppose it all depends on your perspective. I would think compared to other select Buick models it isn't all that desireable.

The thing is, you can't separate rare from desireable. I'd look around for other 63's on the web and see what they're actually going for. That, I would think would be your best bet.

I've seen a handful...probably could count 'em on three fingers. It's all in what you want and what you are willing to put into it. Some go for more some for less. I've got a '63 4 Dr. HT Wildcat...the "Colletability" for it is absolutely NOTHING!!! But it's what I want and am enjoying. And to make it even stranger.. I want a '63 Electra and LeSabre (4Dr HT s) as well..I don't give a rat's a$$ about prices. For me it's the enjoyment of the car..everything else is just a bonus... I don't nor will I ever have a dam "Trailer Queen" what a waste of an automobile..:af: (I'll probably get flamed for that one..but I don't care:moonu: yeah that's aimed at those cars that get all the "AWARDS" from the BCA that probably won't even startup..:moonu: KMA.. ) To me Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed.. Sorry I just get livid on these roll em off and roll em on cars... My opinion and my thoughts on the subject..

(Man I'm gonna catch hell on this one..but so what.. it's My dam opinion..)

I agree with you, Sarge. What's the point of having a cool car if you can't drive it? It's somewhat annoying.

I personally like the cars that you won't see a bunch of at shows. That is one of the things I love about my 68 lark convert. Around this area there are many Buicks at the shows. That being said also, at many local shows they won't know much about it.

The 61-63 Skylark are few and far in between at the car shows.
And it is nice that a lot of people will come and look at the car just because they have not seen one five or more years of going to car shows.
They always commet about how nice it is to see one one the road and being driven to the show.
Not a car to get to turn for a big buck, but a great ride.
