1952 Super engine options

I recently purchased a 52 super. It runs ok but it needs some work. I do not want to spend a lot of time and money on the I8 because I plan to drop in a V8. I have not had any luck finding information on what will fit. I know I will need to replace the rear end and can't wait to get the trans out. Bigger is better unless it won't fit. Does anyone have any experience or know of a good resource to determine what options i have? I would like to find a donor car with engine and trans so I need to know what to start looking for
