On a whim, I grabbed this:

Does anybody think I'm crazy, or what????

I don't think you're crazy.... add a few grand for a decent paint job, another grand for interior, another grand for engine work, another grand for brakes/fuel/cooling. Just to make it nice, not show

Total should be less than $10k including the price of the car.... I bet you could make your money back with a nice profit.

WHEEEOOW, you really ARE crazy. That is a cool ride! Any idea where to find parts? I'd love to take a ride in something like that! Best of luck with the resto and keep us all posted.:TU:

I think it looks cool. I dont think you are crazy as long as you have the time to put into it and determination to make it nice. Nice find :TU:

Well, we'll see how it goes. From what I gather, it appears the owner was restoring it over the years, and passed away. This shop bought it at an estate sale (He says for 4 grand). They don't have time to mess w/ it, so they're dumping it. The car is chock full of parts that were gathered over the years. From what the shop owner says, he thinks it was in storage for 40 years. from the pics, it really looks solid and clean. Well we'll find out when we get it home, hopefully this weekend.

What got me into the idea was, I was looking at a '62 Lesabre on e-bay, and I asked my 11 yr old what he thought of it-" NAH!!! Ugly!" was all I got:Do No:

The '29? He thinks it's the cats ass. So, now I guess I'll call his bluff, and see if he wants to help w/ the restoration.

It might be more fun with a early 50's straight 8 adapted to a 5 speed or a 200-R4 trans and a 10 bolt rear with 3.42 gears! Leave it stock on the outside, but have a surprise ready on the inside!
Restored? maybe...Improved? Definately! Enjoy!

Congratulations. Another '29 owner on the V8 board. My car is more "together", but yours appears to have had more work done to it already. Mine is a model 51, which is a 129 series close coupled sedan (no side window behind rear door) and dual sidemounts.

For something like $20 / year, you can join the Silver Anniversary Buick Club - contact Bill McLaughlin through http://www.29buick.ca/. It really is the best source for parts and technical advice, although the newsletter is only put out quarterly.

Again, congrats. If you have any questions, I can try to answer them - I'm no expert, but I own one of these and think it's a great car. I plan on bringing mine home this summer from the storage I've had it in and start the restoration work.
