Shannon,

Very nice cars you and your wife have. Do you know yet what wheels you are getting? Curious to know what rim size, backspacing and tire size you are going with?

I just picked up this car and I want to add wheels and air ride in the near future.

Going with a Billet Specialties Legends Series Bullet

Kumho Ecsta SPT tires from trierack.com
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Kumho&model=Ecsta+SPT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&partnum=145YR8KU31

front 18x7 with a 215/45/18 backspace 4.00
back 20x8.5 witha 245/40/20 backspace 4.75

I should have them in a few weeks I'll post pics. It's hard to find wheels with a 5x5 bolt pattern. NOTE: on the 62 Wildcat the lugs on the Driver side are Left handed / backwards.

OLD WHEELS: The car has or had Eagle Alloys 17x8 with 4.50 backspaceing. The front wheels has a 1/4 spacer. 255/45/17

Here is a few pics of my rare find... a 62' wildcat owned by a guy at age 30 to 40, then sold it to an elderly couple in 1972. Then they drove it until the husband passed about 13 years ago, then the wife passed and left it with her son who in turn sold it back to the original owners son who in turn sold it to me. In 1985 (I have receipts) the tires were replaced for the FIRST time. When I bought this car in Feb 08', the car had 3000 miles on them. The buick wildcat has 41,000 original miles. I just did a full 4 wheel brake job for the first time of the cars life! Since having, the car is near stripped, walnut shell blasted inside, outside and underside.... the bumpers and all chrome is being show plated, the paint redone from bare metal, the interior redone, (the drivers arm rest showed a small tear from wear) everything is being re-done... cant wait to see the end result. The car was stored in a garage all it's life, and never seen rain. The glass has not even a small chip or scratches! The car will get a small upgrade... a posi! The original diff was a 3:31 rear end, non posi. I found a 1963 3:42 posi from a riv, had the axles resplined from 33 to the now 30 splines. I installed the posi yesterday, fit the axles, and wow! Further down the road will be either a t-400 I have or a 700r4. I havent decided yet. I have 5 of the t-400's at the shop from 65/66 nailheads, otherwise a trans adapter kit from EELCO will have to do for the 700r4. Right now, there is roughly $12,500 in the build so far....

You can do it, All you need is the 90 degree bend from some aluminum pipe with the right size O.D. and I.D., paint it to match and then the rubber hose and clamps. :Smarty: I am sure it is aircraft aluminum tube. so that and the the heat paint is where the :dollar: :dollar: comes in!

Shannon,

That looks great! I showed my wife the before pics a couple of nights ago and she said "nice car, but the wheels don't look right". Tonight, whole different story. She liked it a lot. Can't wait for you to get it outside to get some complete side shots. I will be emailing you for details on what you did!

Thanks, Chris

BOTH OF THOSE CARS ARE AMAZING!

Who is the manufacturer of the paint(s) on your rivi and wildcat... And what are the colours/paint codes?

I'm looking to do something similar to your wildcat, on my '64 Riv.

Thanks!

Wes

Here is another couple of pics in the restoration project.... paint and interior was done by Dec. 2008, now I just need to finish the little things... Plus, no bags, not lowered, nothing ruined. Original 42K motor and trans, but I installed a 1963 3:42 posi, (removed 3:23 open)
