Was wondering if anyone ever converted your rear knee shocks. I would like to hear the benefits of converting or just going with re-built. Found a place here in Jersey(Kanter) that has re-built knee shocks.

Thanks:Do No:

Those Knee shocks will last forever unless run dry for a long time. This is how I take care of LEAKS (http://buickrestorer.com/lowtechrear.html) .

Thanks for the detailed tip! I thought a conversion would yield a better ride than the knee shocks, I kinda get a washboard ride on my 55 century (mine is the same as your blue and white one featured on your home page) BTW, great looking cars and love your engine compartment.

Had mine on a lift yesterday and did NOT notice any leaking on the rears but, on the front left side shock. Also, on your page you mentioned CARS, is the Buick store place in Jersey?

Thanks Again

Thanks for your kind remarks. Do the usual bounce tests to see if your shocks are deficient, then with the axle supported remove a link at the frame and see how much resistance is in the arm. Refill the shocks weekly since fluid added to the top takes awhile to get to the lower cylinders...then you will find a leak at the shaft.
The CARS I was referring to are those obnoxious boys in New Jersey. Since you are from New Jersey maybe you know how to talk to them or live close enough to slap some sense into them.

I have to agree with your take on the CARS guys, I had a little trouble with them myself. They could not recieve a digital image of something I bought from them because they DID NOT HAVE EMAIL!! Well I'll give them a slap for you also.

Thanks Again!
