I am trying to find out some information about Buick antennas that will help me with another car that uses the same type of antenna. I understand that a 50s or early 60s series Buick (perhaps Roadmaster) used a fender mounted antenna (that fully retracted into the fender) and was extended and retracted via a switch. That is, the antenna was a power antenna that did not raise and lower by simply turning the radio on, a separate switch was used to raise and lower the antenna. As I understand it, you needed to hold the switch in one position to raise the antenna and hold the switch in another position to lower the antenna.

Does anyone know which Buicks would have used such an antenna and, if so, where one could buy an original or very good replica?

My '61 Invicta has a 3 position switch as you describe. It is the only car I have that currently has a power antenna, so that's about all I can tell you.

My 58 Limited has a power antenna...but I do know that was an option on the 58's.

The 56 Roadmaster has it too.
