I am interested in putting a 425 in my '55. Does anyone know of any conversion motor mounts made for this purpose? Also, is the floor tunnel on the '55 big enough to accomadate the new AT behind the 425? Thanks, guys.

In short,
1) no one make conversion mounts for a 364-401-425 swap. I made an adapter plate that bolts to my block (four bolt holes) and then bolts to my stock three bolt mounts(i ended up having them welded to the stock mounts)
2) the later 57-66 364-401-425 bellhousings are actually quite a bit smaller in diameter than the 53-56 264-322. This will give you alot more room to get to the bolts. The sp/th400 tranny fits with no problem in the rest of the tunnel.
3) you will need to convert the driveshaft to an open drive style and do away with the torquetube setup if going to a sp/th400.
There were several posts and a few threads on this style conversion done a few years ago under the Nailhead forum. It is worth doing a search for them.
Don't rule out 61-up Buicks for donor rear ends and such when doing the swap.
