Hi,
How does one remove the master cylinder on a 63 riv with the delco-morraine power booster? This is the gold booster with the wire bail top.
Thanks!

unscrew the brake lines from it. Then follow the casting (under the lid) to the booster and undo the two nuts on the studs. and it's out.

it's simple to remove but much harder to correctly reinstall the booster. (brake bleeding and such.

remember to disconnect the booster rod from the brake pedal assembly.

Yes, I have changed a master cylinder before. With manual brakes, I have sometimes had to disconnect the pushrod from the brake pedal. Never with power brakes.
The Riv factory manual for 63 concerns itself with the Bendix unit, not the Delco.
I've disconnected the retaining nuts and brakeline, also the brake light switch. The master wiggles but will not come loose.
Before I pull too hard. I thought I'd ask. It's unclear about the brake pushrod. I've never seen one go all the way through the booster. There is usally a diaphram in the middle. I wasn't planning on remaoving the booster.
Thanks for the help and questions!

Got it off. I put the brakeline back on, left the nuts backed off 1/2" and hit the brake pedal.
The rod doesn't have to be disconnected. The problem was the rubber grommet around the body of the cylinder.
Too old and stuck.
Thanks for the help!
