View Full Version : what is it with lug nuts?

ok ya`ll here is the pic of what I have; the not so shiny one is the nut on this ride for since 1980 and is 13/16 in size. on the right is a ... well something else. Before that 1980 date I cannot be sure if they were changed from the originals. Mis-information seems abound since the lug wrench is 13/16... hmmmm?

Now the question is: are they the factory part? If not What is the correct part for a 1972 GS with the 15 inch ralleys?

i bought acorns from "cars" and they are identical to those pictured on the right side of your image. i have seen the long acorn nuts but i cannot remember on what vehicle. they were meant for long studs.
checking the parts book for 1972 rallye wheels - gm part# 1231722

That's all I've ever seen on "B" and "E" body 68 thur 70.

Yes, originally they were capped lugs. The one on the right looks like the stainless steel repros. They're nice and I'm pretty sure would be considered correct.
