My friend owns a 51 Buick Special. Her mechanical fuel pump broke down.
Does anyone know of an aftermarket mechanical fuel pump that will fit her 263 straight 8 engine or will she better off on installing an electric fuel pump?

If her only option is the electric fuel pump, what brand do you recommend and where is a good resource for aiding in installation?

It's easier to rebuild that pump than to muck around with an electric pump. Besides, with the mechanical pump you'll have windshield wipers again. That is unless you'd like to rebuild the whole electrical system with a modern 12 volt altenator and solid state regulator, because in order to drive some of the modern stuff (fuel pump, electric wipers) your six volt generator and regulator just won't cut it. I don't know of a 6 volt pump, and the 6 volt wiper motor is horribly expensive.
Good Luck!
