Evening all...

i have a 1975 Buick Lesabre and have taken the dash apart in an attempt to re-do a new radio and speakers in the car. when I opened it up, I found a real mess with wiring...

I have found a lot of orange wiring that seems to be constant power, but a strange relay between what I assume is ignition power and the radio.... not at all sure why but this particular box had a red wire coming into it, (the ground wasn't connected) and a red and black heading into the radio...

anyway, in opening up the dash, there's a whole mess of spliced and diced wiring that also powers the cigarette lighter, lights for the glove box and so on, and (probably used to at one time) power the clock...

if anybody has had any experience in wiring from the fusebox and might be able to shed any light on what colours are what and so on, it would really be appreciated...

thanks...

greg

Wow. :eek2:

All I can say is - unless you are very experienced and/or have a sixth sense with wiring and rewiring cars, it might be time to pick up a copy of the factory chassis manual which includes full color fold out chassis wiring diagrams. At least a good starting point for the basket of snakes you've just uncovered.

HERE IS A LINK (http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=74114) for a site that has your year manual for sale. You can find others - including eBay - but $35 seems like a good price for actual OEM manual.

Good luck and let us know how it went. :TU:
