Just picked up a set of 14 x 6 painted (not chromed) Buick rallys to put on my 69. These were the wheels that were on the car before the person I bought it from switched them for later model chromed wheels.
Various identifying stamps include JK, a small MI with an "8" underneath, large J followed by 14 x 6, and 1, G, 28, and finally 810. All stamps are found in the same general area.
Any help in ID'ing these wheels is appreciated.

Rim code 810 makes it a 14" 68-70 rim. The code "M1" with an "8" underneath means it was built sometime in the 1968 calender year.
If you look on the rear rim lip, on the outside where you would install the tire weights, you will see M1/8 # # If you list the numbers here I can further ID the wheels.

PS. You may want to look closer to verify that it is "M4/8" and not "M1/8" like you posted.

Yeah, sorry it is M4/8. The numbers on the rim are M4/8 10 10 60.
When you say that the "8" indicates calendar year of build, that means it would be possible for these to be the original wheels on a 69 (build date approx. November of 68)?

Mike,
"M4/8 10 10 60" Means the wheels were built on October 10th, 1968, and are 6" wheels. (ie. 14x6 wheels) The 69 model year started around August-September of 68 and finished around July of 69, so with your car being built in November of 68 they could be the original wheels.
Duane
PS. Wheel date codes are only one of the hundreds of parts that are date coded on your car. If you bought one of my "Mid 60's- early 70's Date Code Books", you could learn all kinds of things.
