How do you guys remove........

Trying to remove the rear oil gallery plugs of my 455. They are not hex, they are square. What seems to fit are the 1/4 drivesocket extensions, but I have just snapped two of them because they are so tight. What do you guys do?

PB blaster in the auto parts store. Liquid torch I have heard it called.

Sometimes you just have to improvise, took a 3/8 90 degree allen wrench, ground the end to a 1/4 inch square on the griind wheel, so it fit into the pipe plug, then put a 2 foot piece of copper pipe over it for leverage and finally they came out! Yea!

I tried countless other methods and this is what finally worked for me:

Take a short grade 5 or grade 8 bolt, grind the threaded end square to fit the plugs, then use it with an impact gun to remove those damn plugs!

Some plugs can really be stubborn & will defy all removal attempts. Before the hex gets "Rounded" out try this. Heat the plug & surrounding area with a propane or oxy/act. It does not have to get "Red" hot. While it is still hot to some extent, get a candle or whatever made from wax. Melt it around the plug & allow to cool completely. What happens is while the wax is molten it will "Wick" it way down the threads. After they cool the plugs can almost be removed with your fingers in most cases as the wax also acts as a lubricate. I've been doing them this way for many years. I don't even bother trying to remove them without the "Waxing" method any longer.

Then I am going to kidnap Bill Gates and have him figure out a way to extract all the knowledge from the brain and put it on computer disk.
