Or was it done automatically? Was the BB software updated?

M******* has been in sig for a couple years now.

Paul, I think you're a victim of the software's censorship feature. Many of the message boards can be automatically setup to remove the word A S S (and the letters following if you planned to label a certain hole) as well as others. It's pretty stupid if you ask me.

I'll bet I can't post a homework assignment.

Edit: Well that's wierd.

I to have noticed strange things. All day yesterday images kept being turned back on. I don't let them icons load on the very left of the page on a new post search. [kept needing the close browser n clear cache] They all look to much alike and I can't tell or get the hang of what means what. If I don't let them load then I get a big box with an explain message that is dead obvious.

You see this, http://www.v8buick.com/streetrod/statusicon/thread_dot_hot.gif

I see this, which makes it dead obvious on whats new. And justs makes it easier on me. Was just odd as that never happened before. I know of some sites that use them scripts to force images / get around the images off options in a browser.

Paul,

Recently we had some input from members about a 4 letter word that has been used here recently.. And I updated the censorship options to eliminate that. While I was there, I typed in a few other words that could be used in hostility toward other members.

This had nothing to do with you or your signature, specifically.

But since "Masshole" is a nickname that we accepted here a while ago, I removed the portion of that word that was banned.

Guys..

The vast majority of us on the board are educated and mature, and we certainly can express ourselves without the needless profanity. Long ago, I stated this board would not traffic in gutter speak.. even if a lot of us use that language on a daily basis. I did this to make sure that our board would be looked upon as a a friendly place to hang out, to the new folks that stop by on a daily basis, and I believe the success of that policy is evident in the continual growth of this board. 20K+ members and over a million posts, in a community as small as the Buick world is nothing short of phenomenal.

While I know that some of you will bristle at censorship, I am going to ask you all to respect the policy, and see the bigger picture. If we all start spitting out 4 letter words like adolescents, then there is no doubt that this board will stagnate, and eventually decline.

None of us want that.

Thx

JW

Thanks Jim. That's what I figured, but given the problems with my avatars in the past I couldn't be quite sure.

Jim thanks for keeping it family friendly . I have been to some other boards that have no control of language or pics . some of them are close to being a porn site , not that I am a saint or angel but we all have to remember there are some ladies and children that are here also . Paul nothing meant toward you .

Rules/lines are good; if they didn’t put then lines on the road with big steel or cement guardrails. Folks would wander all over the place. The painted lines keep 99% of folks in the right direction. The other 1% learns the hard way.
