I was at wal-mart so i looked there. They didnt have any cars at all. So i decided to venture over to Kmart as well. I looked on the aisle, where they had a lot of cars, but no GSX. So i went, bummed, to the register to check out. When i noticed that there was a buge hot wheels display inbetween the registers. I told my brother and sister to look on one side while i looked on the other. After sifting through Hot Wheels for a good 15 minutes i finally found two of them together, right in the middle. Also picked up a Grand National (red? :puzzled: )while i was at it. :pp

The one GSX is printed wrong, is that worth more. As you can see the difference in the two. On one, the paint is all shifted down, stripe is too far down and doesnt connect to the spoiler, the GSX letters are on the rear light. :idea2:

Yep they spend more money on TV ads and flyers then the stores.
Ours use to be really nice then they sold all the shelving and flooring and bought scrap quality stuff to replace it. Nice brand new products on shelves I would only use for greasy auto parts. The nice all one-color floors are now 30 different colors and patterns.
It’s a real crap hole of a place. But dunno how they were able to buy up Sears but are doing the same things to them.

Finally i can share my enjoyment. Ever since this thread ive been lookin. Walmart is always completely out of Hot Wheels when i am there. HOWEVER, i went some time last week and they had a fresh batch out. Me and my brother snatched everyone they had. I bought a total of 12 GSXs!!!!!! Bringing my total to 14 GSXs (one open), one red/black GN, one custom blue GN which i also picked up for $4 (also a Hot Wheels) See pics

Way too many. I think I have 20 of the big rubbermaid containers (66 qt I think) the big ones full in my basement aside from the stuff on display.

And they're full of complete sets. I have 1/64 and 1/18th scales.

So I went on a 2 hour adventure this morning. No luck on those cool little 1/64 displays. I wonder if maybe you wouldn't mind grabbing me 2 of every different type the next time your in that store.

I did pick up this 1965 Riviera today however. I was very suprised to see it and it is VERY neat IMO! :cool: I thought this collector match tin was cool too, and marked down to 40cents!!

My good buddy found a white GSX and bought it for me. I already had 2 yellows. Really nice car. I customize a few here and there also. I made a sweet convertible and sprayed with matching paint from my GS.

My wife bought me a Johnny Lightning GS a while back, turned out it was a white lightning! she thought she screwed and bought something wierd and paid too much for it! she thought I would be upst that she spent $7 on a $1.99 retail car. It is really slick, white tires and interior. I need to take a pic and post it.

It did take a long time for them to get into the system here. Probably form the lul in buying after xmas they were stuck in back waiting to come out. As today was the first time in a while did the HW display looked pick through. Folks are buying them again but left all the good ones for me ;)

Tried to find a display case, found some mini HW cars in a case for $1 but darn if its isn't 1/8 in to small.

Yeah some are really bad...LOL No fancy tools, 30.00 no name grinder with cutoff wheel and good old fashioned files. Primer is just to make sure don't take too much off and help with filing, that spoiler is (was) solid!!LOL In fact, the bodies are very solid.

Ok well here is the latest, interior is painted with same vinyl dye used on real car. I maybe should have left it one color but painted floors black and it got a little sloppy plus now its obvious it is a bucket car unlike my 72, plan to add some silver detail to steering wheel and radio, etc. Sometimes less detail is better (I suppose I could strip it all down again and start over but the smaller these things are the more work it is so it seems, don't really want to start over).

Hot wheels makes it nice, the interior is molded in one piece and dash section unclips and folds out so can paint main interior and then just clip dash area back into place! You can see that in pic.

Body in primer just to check how it looks.

Plan is to spray car with original paint used on mine, we have these little aerosol things at work so only need a couple ounces and already have some thinned out ready to spray since car was done...no clear though so will probably just use a spray can for that...worst case it reacts and I strip body again, not a big deal as its all metal anyway.

Be a while until i can finish it now.

Not really sure how this got started, hopefully turns nice, not sure about fender emblems in 1/64th scale..sheesh...also the boot :Do No: :laugh:

Touched up some sloppiness with more white dye, now it looks like seats have rear map pockets...LOL still a bit sloppy though...just so darn small.

Toothpicks worked well for tiny details.:TU: I've decided to skip external emblems, though.

Note woodgrain on console, found some old mac tac that I used a long time ago to make dash plates for real cars before the repro decals were available...LOL Hard to cut that small.

Also had to buy a can of spray paint clear as stuff I had here reacted badly with the Deltron 2000 base coat, this stuff works good...anyway, we're set to go, will hopefully paint it Monday in booth at work :TU:

I think that is an assembly error, not a different style. If you check out ebay right now, there is also one with smaller front wheels on the back, looks pretty odd. There was one a while back that was missing the side stripes too...LOL

Painted! Please keep in mind this thing is crazy small. The original paint in all its metallic glory looks crazy on the hot wheels vert when bright light hits it (look at the metalflake!!!LOL) . For this reason I took this shot with it sitting in the sunshine...two coats of base and three coats of clear...it has great shine and acts like the big car, kinda copper creamy orange but where light hits it goes crazy.

Once I get a chance will paint the details on body and finish up. Should look neat.

Wife phoned me tonight as she found these at the local walmart....when she said 71 GSX I thought awesome but then she said it had no hood and big motor so that kinda blows it for me (plus the 6.77 they wanted for it!)..front grille is indeed 71 but back bumper is 70. Go figure.

Oh yeah and it said 8+ so I'm too young for that!!! :)

Cool Cadi camino kinda thing. Yellow vega and ss wagon. Redlina racing paddy wagon, green javelin and 67 camaro opening hood.

57 plymouth fury treasure hunt along with srt challenger and a nova and a really cool 69 chevelle kinda like muscle machine look. kinda short and stout. Cartoonish looking with big side pipes. I'll try to get a close up picture.


Oh and no sign's of a red 70 GSX yet.

Awesome! One question, how did you rivet the chassis back on? Just a normal rivet gun or glue? I have a bunch of yellow hotwheels so Id like to give this a try!

I did something very similar with a 1/18 71 GSX... Turned it into a 72 convertible to match my own...

Had to reply again.. I found one red one at Target tonight.
There was a little kid looking at the hot wheels.. maybe 6-7 yrs old.

So I look over his head and scan the sides of the packages for yellow and '07' and I see one!
I pick it out and its red!
I put it in the cart and continue to look for others.
The kid looks at me and says "What are you doing?"

I tell him I have a real car like that one.
he says "Is it out on the parking lot!?"

I say no its home in the garage.

He just replies in a smooth voice... "Coooool.." :laugh:

He helped look though the rest, but there were no more GSX's...

really detailed. looks like the hood opens but i still have it in the package.

it's 1:64th scale. (matchbox/hotwheels size) white interior, black wheel, note the small red GS logo in the grille and on the rear quarter there is one near the key hole in the trunk lid. with a satin/flat black roof too. The tires even have the polyglas look edges. Even has an identifiable Arizona looking rear license plate.

it was however $3.79 I bought the 2 the Menards had. I'll sell someone the other one for the cost I paid plus shipping (guessing 2 dollars) If no one is interested, I'll open one and keep the other in original packaging.

May trade for a red GSX as I haven't found that one yet.

couple of neat finds. just picked up the 2 69 barrett jackson ones, i bought the 70 skylark police car that just happend to be where im from off of ebay a while back and a few pics of the shelf in the library of my favorites. only 2 buicks on there unfortunatly. the rest of my toys are in containers in the basement. guess i should be happy i get some display space.:laugh:

Here's a photo of my street/strip '70 GS. Black on black with a blower.

Okay, let's just forget for a moment that the motor is a BBC. I contemplated taking the blower off of the block and using in on top of the Buick block, but the detailing on the BBC was too nice and I couldn't get the headers to fit with that set up. I did black out the "Chevrolet" lettering on the valve covers, though. I just pretend it's all Buick.

As for the hood, it sits next to the car for display. Those OEM scoops are just too nice to cut up.

I'll have to take some more photos tomorrow of the other stuff in my office.

The wheel/tires you see on the '67 are off of the black '70 (above). They are actually slightly bigger than the ones that came with the car (14" vs. 15" to scale?). I thought the bigger ones look better, especially with the red lines.

The yellow 1/18 GSX was purchased in 1991, one of the earliest, I think. I did some detailing on the interior and stuff, but nothing major.

The red dragster is a Tommy Ivo car, though the engine is a hemi. I'm still looking for a 1/18 Tommy Ivo car with twin nailheads (not the QUAD thing).

I have a ton of 1/64 cars, including some from the 60's and 70's that I've had since I was a kid. Maybe I'll break them out sometime.
