Buick Super Sport Wheels Restoration ???

I have just bought a odd 1970 skylark and thought it would be cool to put my Buick Super Sport wheels on it but the wheels really need to be cleaned up and I wondered if anyone could tell me the best way to go about this as in

Sand blast and paint, media blast and powder coat, or hand sand and paint ect ect

any information would be great:TU:

Also does anyone know a good place to look for trim rings to replace the ones I have as they have seen better days

If you are going to keep them stock I would have them media blasted, then have them sprayed the original charcoal color. If no one has the trim rings you might find some on ebay.

I also have a set of the Buick super sport wheels but I will be sending mine out to get the centers cut out, welded in new 15x7 and 15x8 chrome rim shells, and then will have the centers painted burnished cinamon to match my car's exterior.

Id make sure they are good and straight first, I have yet to come across 20+ yr old rims that were straight. Spend money on gettign them trued up first, then worry about looks.

Ryan- Those Super Sport wheels in the picture you posted look familiar!:laugh:

I had mine sandblasted and painted. The 1970 S/S wheels and the 1971 S/S wheels are very different. The picture posted is of my restored 71 wheel.

Buick never provided a paint code for them. The nly info is that they're "argent". I painted mine dark charcoal with a 30% gloss. Its basically the same color they use on the Pontiac Rally wheels.

Note that his wheels were custom cut and welded into chrome rimshells. That is what I am doing with my set as well - though I am also have the centers painted burnished cinamon to match my car rather than the stock charcoal gray.
