A 70 VIN does not differentiate Stage1 vs. non-stage1.

Hey guys, Can you tell me about this VIN: st7044637fl1? Should be a stage 1 right?

The number you are giving looks like it is off the fire wall not the VIN number? ST 70 44637 FL1 ?????? BDY ? This does show that it is a GS 455 but as stated it does not specifically tell you if it was a stage-1.

To verify if it is a stage-1 first go to

www.stage1registry.com and read up on the stage-1 option

In 1970 the stage-1 was built exclusively in Flint so the VIN should be

446370H?????? (2-door Hardtop)

If it does not have an H (built in the Flint, MI plant) it is not a real Stage-1

If the last six digits are between 100001 193552 then contact the
Sloan Museum - BGRC
303 Walnut St.
Flint, MI 48503
(810) 237-3440
https://sloanmuseum.com/research_form.html

Jeff Taylor is the curator and for $50 the Sloan can review orginal Buick documentation to tell you if it is a real Stage-1 or not.

If the last six digits are greater than 193552 then contact Wayne Roberts with the GS Historic Society and you can get the same information. The Cost is $75 or $150 for a rush.
