69 GS 350 Firewall Markings?

Was wondering if any of you out there have any knowledge or insight regarding some firewall markings on my 69 GS 350. Just a quick history, the car was built in Fremont, Ca, it's a GS 350 with turbo 350 auto, and console shift.

On the firewall behind/at the vacuum port, to the left of the voltage regulator (as you look at it standing in front of the car) are the numbers "176" in yellow grease pencil. Just to the right (when you look at the car) and above the voltage regulator and junction, (to the left of where the under dash wires come out from inside the car) is an "X", then a "/" (backslash below the X) then the number "3" in the same grease pencil. Any help out there guys? Thanks for all of your help!

If you can post some pictures of the markings and list some more info about your car, like the information on the ID plate on the firewall, it might help with figuring this out.

I have never posted pics before, but i have some photos of the markings. If someone gets a chance to let me know how to do it I will try tomorrow. I think I can scan the pictures with my Lexmark scanner, but I don't know how to get them from the scanner to the net or this thread? Any help out there?

Does 176 match your trim code? I had a Freemont-built 70 Skylark with the trim code on the firewall as you describe.

Unfortunately no on the trim code. The trim code on my car is 186 (for Buckskin). Any other ideas out there?

I think the "176" number does match your trim code, That's why I asked you to list the info from the ID plate on your firewall.

The last digit of the code "6" designates the color of the interior. The guys on the assembly line/fisher body probably used the number as a generic code for the color. That way they knew what door panels, etc. to put in. They just didn't differentiate between the different front seats.
For 1969
180 numbers for front buckets (custom/deluxe)
170 numbers for front bench with armrest (custom/deluxe)

So the number "188" would be black front buckets (custom/deluxe) because "8" is black.
