Is there a place or a site that I can go to to get a copy of my car's original build sheet? I know such a thing exists for other makes, is there someone doing it for Buick? Does the factory still have all of that info?
Also; I see that there are people here who can decode production tags and body tags, - where do I find this kind of information? Is there a book?
I'd really like to figure out my convertible, as well as my old Super. Plus I've just blundered into a couple of 55 Oldsmobiles that need to be decoded, - any suggestions, besides the obvious one to scrap them?

Hey, Marc.
I had to look up the '08 Allure in your signature line as I was curious. I saw that it is essentially the Buick LaCrosse in the States ... Wikipedia has this information about the "Allure" name ... :Brow:
The Buick LaCrosse is a mid-size car produced by the Buick division of American automaker General Motors since 2004 as the 2005 model year. The LaCrosse, only available as a four-door sedan, replaces the Buick Century, Buick Regal and the Oldsmobile Intrigue after General Motors discontinued the brand. Its namesake is the Buick LaCrosse concept car shown beginning in 2000.
The original name was inspired by a Buick concept car of the same name shown in 2000 and also used as a reference to the sport of lacrosse, seen as popular with a younger, more active demographic to which Buick sought to market. However, la crosse means masturbation or swindling in Québecois slang, so it is sold as the Buick Allure in Canada.

If you are looking for information on your 1966 Buick, I am not aware of anyone that has that information. To determine the body tag information and VIN information I start with the "American Car ID Numbers" book. The books go in 10 year increments. I have the 1960-69 and 1970-79. I think you can still get them through Amazon. After that I go to a couple different website. Atlanta Buick Specialties has a lot of good info on paints ect. Buicks.net also has some information. After that, I go through the Factory Assembly Manuals I have.

Yup; That's what we heard up here too. I don't know where GM got off on changing the time-tried old names for Buicks, when the LaCrosse first came out, my French-Canadian friends were laughing their asses off. Then they changed the name, and the car isn't very alluring, it's a Buick. I still can't wrap my head around "Lucerne", around here it's a brand of dairy products sold by the Safeway grocery chain. I guess an off-white Lucerne looks like sour cream...
They still build nice cars, sure, but give me LeSabre or Electra or even Park Avenue, the new names just don't cut it!

Thanks, - I'll give ABS a try, and I've seen copies of the American car ID numbers book, I thought they covered Chevs and Fords only, I wasn't aware that they covered Buick too.
