What are the biggest wheels that I can fit on my boattail? I would like to go to a larger diameter than 15' but want to keep them wide, 10" and over. Any suggestions? Of cost is an issue.
Here is something from Summit (17" dia. only 9"wide, thought):

i have 15x8 up front with 245's and 15x10 rear with 275's anything any bigger is going to be a VERY tight squeeze.

Good topic! I have searched for quite some time, but found info only on the 'Larks. I have seen out boats w/ 20's, but that is just impractical. Rubber band tires are rough and punctures, get eggs, not to mention if you live around pot-holes like me, you will be doing a lot of damage to 'em and are PRICEY!!!!!

I'd like some wide 18's in back and 17's up front. Maybe chrome steelies w/ 6 in cone caps. Or more of a muscle look like those rims above. Wish I could decide!!! OR had the $$$$$$!!!:(

Joe, you Riv looks great! It's hard to find pics of Rivs with wheels that are not stock.
I feel the rear wells on a boattail needs to be filled, plus a little extra rubber to keep the car on the ground.
My front end was lowered 3", so I was thinking a big and little combo between front and rear. I'm cutting out the molding strip off of the rear wells so that would give me an extra inch or so. My priorities are to get as wide of a tire on the back, and have the car to look proportional when veiwed from the side.
Thanks, Gabe

I did not mean to scare anybody off. As you can see, it is definitely a W.I.P., and not the flossy kind! If it still had a radio, it would probably play "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter.
I saw that American TQ2's come in 18x11 and 18x9. Would these be too big? I'm not really going for the muscle car look, I love how low and wide this car is and I guess I would like to accentuate the curves of the body, especially the one over the rear well moving down into the tail.

I took it out on the road for a test drive today, after going over the cam timing,. Hitting the gas like I normally do, the car did not move more than 10 - 15 mph. I could hear the engine revving, but was I losing power? Was the trans slipping? When I looked in the rear-view mirror, I saw a bunch of smoke, and realized I was frying the tires! I guess wider wheels in the back are in order!

Sorry, I usually sign my name at the end of the post. My name is Gabe Batson, hence my user name Batson, G.
I did get a little rubbing in the front, mostly on bumps though, not turns, so I don't think I could much bigger than 15" or 16" on the fronts. The fender wells are out now,
In the back, it seems like there is plenty of space, but I don't don't want low profile tires, just a bigger diameter.
Thanks for all the help! -Gabe

Love the look of those Rivs!!!!
Personally I'd consider 18's front and 19's out back,,,,or possibly a 17/18 combo if you don't want a tire that looks too low profile!!!!
Those Rivs look so sweet with larger rollers on them,,,its all those cars ever needed,,,the lines from the factory are great!!!!
