Car was bought as a 1931 Buick from a dealer (Hyman, Ltd,) during the 2007 AACA fall meet in Hershey, PA, This is a 60 64 straight 8 cylinder. The first year that Buick had an eight cylinder engine. This car underwent a complete restoration during the mid 1990's. It is in excellent condition and handles extremely well.

Thought I'd let the youngsters see this, as I don't remember it.
But, I do know in 1931 was the depression years after the roaring 20's

I've had two old series Land Rovers that had hand cranks. Lucky they also had starters. I never tried to hand crank them. The last one was a 74 and I think the 2.25 liter engine had about 75 horse. It probably wouldn't have been too bad to crank. The first one was a 52 with a diesel. Little motor but the diesel might have been a chore to crank.
