I got my engine and light harness from YearOne. It was perfect. No problems at all. I would highly recommend it. No more splices, frayed and greasy wires.

Just so you know,M&H makes Year One's harnesses. I've used these and they are very nice. Correct colors, length and ends..:TU:

Gosh dern, even if we only have 3 results, at least the voting was unanimous! Sounds like M&H so far:cool: .

Do the harnesses come with the bulk head that bolts to the firewall or do you have pull all the wires from your existing bulk head and reuse it?

They are complete... like Mike said.. plug in and go.

Very good product.

We use them exclusively.

I always like the ones uncle Clem made for the used cars I bought. Who would have known a spool of Red wire and duct tape could go so far.

As long as I had my trusty fire extinguisher handy, I could go cruising anytime I wanted. Of course even time I turned right the horn would go off and if I used the lighter and the radio at the same time the heater would come on.

That dang uncle Clem:Dou:

I should have put an "Uncle Clem" option in the poll....

Unfortunately you would have some pretty good horror stories on that one.

I should have bought stock in M&H with as many wiring harneses as I've got from them. And yes I did have a car that someone dang near used a whole roll of red wire to patch together the underside of the dash along with the lighting system.
After one electrical fire (from Uncle Clem's wiring) thats when I found M&H.........and never looked back.

I replaced all the harnesses on my car using the m and h harnesses. Great quality no problems.

Any ideas for a source for an engine wiring harness for a full-sized Buick? I looked at the websites of the companies listed above, but no luck.

Wonder if a Skylark harness would work. Same engines, just maybe farther from the firewall?

I did my own. The wire in correct insulation color and gauge is out there, just have to look past AutoZone and Checker/Kragen/Schucks. The terminal ends are available too. The non-adhesive cloth wrap is carried by all the resto suppliers, I bought my roll from CARS. Much more 'correct' than black electrical tape. The fusible link wire with correct stamping is at the GM dealer parts counter. This is an option to consider if you have done mods such as electronic ignition, MSD boxes, regulator built-in to the alternator, aftermarket gauges, heavy gauge wire to feed stereo amp, etc, etc. You end up with a factory-original looking wiring harness with no slices or Mickey Mouse BS going on.

And no, I'm not related to Uncle Clem....... :moonu:

Well that was my first thought but by the time I priced out the correct wire, and priceed out the connectors I would need (missing in action) it would have cost more than to just buy the new harness. Easy choice, and I like doing electrical work...

I've got a really nice used one if you're interested, $50. Complete with bracket and no broken or melted wires. Let me know if you would like more details/picture.

On my '67 GS400 I have replaced my dash harness, tailight harness, and engine harness with Year One (I see is actually M & H). One problem I have encountered since I put the dash one in, when I turn the heater fan switch on it runs thru the emergency flasher relay, so it cycles on and off, and when I turn the flashers on all I get is the two turn signal lights to come on, on the dash (no flasher clicking or lights on outside). It appears these two items may have been wired incorrectly? As they are next to each other at the fuse box (looking at a schematic).
Otherwise great harness's and everything matches right up with whatever it is supposed to plug into.

If the repro harness you're looking for isn't readily available, you might want to check with Yardley who frequents this board......I know he does some full size car harnesses for folks.

Thanks for the offer, but I won't be ready for one for prolly a year, just trying to find a possible source at this point. Then again, it might make sense to go JohnK's route and make my own, since I've got "extras" to wire up.

Thanks again for the offer! :beer

Ken at M&H is actually pretty good with the e-mail, and he will make up a custom harnesses for you, no problem. Also if you have your old harness, he can make up one identical to it, for a price around one of the ones they stock; it just takes a few weeks more.
Ken's e-mail address is ken@wiringharness.com.
Let us know how you make out!

This is a new one on me, Lectric Limited is the only one I've used (the only one that makes the fiber optics in the harness for Corvettes) and sorry to say M&H is new to me. AL.

I need a harness... do you still have yours? What car and engine was it for?
A pic would be great. PM on the way too.

That looks like an original harness--is it?

I have one like that and I wanted to dress up the engine b4 I put it in, and everybody is back ordered on new ones! :error:

It's hard to tell from the picture, is yours very clean or does it look like an original harness?

It is an original harness from a low miles car. It has some dirt on it but it is not heavily encrusted and will clean up to look almost like new. There are no cut, broken or melted wires.
