The guy on the bike was my friend Chris from J&L Auto Sales. I've known him for nearly 20 years. He had just left his house and a couple were having a domestic spat in their car and the woman grabbed the wheel and cranked it and they crossed the centerline and drilled Chris. The cops said he never had time to hit the brakes. He is in ICU not expected to make it at this time. Please pray for him and his family.

I'm in the same position. I have only taken mine out once this year so far. I think it will be sold soon. My kids need a father.
I also hope your friend is ok.

<center>,<strong>So Sorry to hear about your friend, Chris<br>
Here is a poem for him, and you
"For we are all, like swimmers in the sea,
Poised on the top of a huge wave of fate,
Which hangs uncertain to which side to fall.
And whether it will heave us up to land,
Or whether it will roll us out to sea,
Back out to sea, to the deep waves of death,
We know not, and no search will make us know;
Only the event will teach us in its hour."

Mike,
Your friend, and his family are in my prayers.
How senseless! What was this woman trying to prove by grabbing the wheel?
Are charges being filed?

unfortunately, they seldom seem to get more than a slap on the wrist. My wife's boss at her last job was in an accident. A guy wasn't watching where he was going and blew a stop sign, running into her and her husband on their Harley.
The husband was killed. She had a broken pelvis and much rehab.
The person driving got a $1000 fine and suspended license for a year...

yes, in a just world she would be charged with ( hopefully attempted ) vehicular homicide.

our prayers are out to him and his Family and friends .
As a rider I am to aware of the danger , there is no justice and no punishment to fit this crime , you cant fix Stupid .it is so sad that one,s life hangs on the actions of unknown people that take no responsability for what they do
God Bless

Ok the latest news is that Chris is about to loose the head probe. They are saying he will survive now. He also may have alot of issues with motor skills at first and that his right side was the most damaged. He does have feeling in his arms, hands and legs, feet. Obviously in ICU still but the very worse is now getting less. Thats all I know as of this minute but dont stop the prayers ......thanks!

I think about how nice a bike would be from time to time, but people run into big yellow school bus's, so I just don't think it's worth the risk. Besides the other drivers people hit elk and deer in cars and trucks around here and on a bike that's bad.
I've got one friend that got in a wreck about 20 years ago and has been a functional (sort of ) 10 year old since. That one was his fault. I've got another friend that was in a wreck... Must be six or so years ago that nearly died. He's not right any more, also lost an arm. That one was from a gal turning left into him.

We got an email from his family today.
Every day he is getting a little better, at least he is not declining in any way. His physical condition has been stable so today they are going to take the pressure monitor out of his brain because it has remained stable. They are going to take him off the ventilator and put in a trachea tube to assist with his breathing. He is breathing 65% on his own. They are also going to put in a feeding tube today. They have not let him completely "wake up". He has opened his eyes some but slowly they are taking him off the sedation meds because they don't want to do it all at once because it's such a shock to the system/brain and they don't want him pulling out any of his tubes. He is moving his arms and legs but mostly on his right side. He broke all but one rib on left side so that may be why he is not moving much on that side. Last night when we were back in his room, he was lifting his arm to pull at the neck brace. I am guessing he does not like having it on. In the next couple of weeks they will be moving him to a rehab facility either in Omaha, Nebraska or Gardner, KS. His family will decide where they want him to be.
I will keep you posted on his progress.

I will be praying for him. Sounds almost identical to an accident my brother inlaw and sister inlaw had. Both in critical condition and neither was expected to live. Some how with all the prayers they both survived. He has brain damage and physical problems, she has multiple physical problems, but they are still with us. Keep the prayers comming. I have been riding cycles for 43 years with a few minor accidents and 2 major ones. Run over by a tractor trailer on the interstate and head on with a jeep. Totaled both bikes, but I got lucky. Now I'm worried about the 3rd time being the charm. I am thinking about getting rid of my bike now too, especially when i see how much driving attitudes have changed. It seems to be a lot more dangerous now than many years ago. Best of wishes for your friend and all the guys who ride. Mark

Yes sorry about that. We have gone from no chance of living to 3 weeks later we are recognizing people and trying to communicate. Chris is at the Madonna Trauma Center in Lincoln Nebraska. He will be there for the next few weeks/monthes depending on how he does. Its looking good so far!!!

This is great news. However, I can't help but wonder if the situation could have been different had he been wearing a full helmet.

Mike, This is the first I've read this. I really don't like coming to this forum much, so much sad news. Madonna is a great rehab facility with a super success rate. He is in good hands up here. Wish him luck from Greg and I.

I just came across this story-so glad it ended this way. I almost bought a bike this week but didn't. Glad I didn't. I see too many crazy reckless people behind the wheel now.

Just got another update. Chris is with the living but he has the mental capacity of an 8th grader. Always repeating himself over and over. Looks like about a year or so before he is fully functional according to the doctors. He is doing ok he just has to relearn life in general. Keep up the prayers.
