Hi I'm going to need 71 rallye wheels in 15x 7. I read on Year One site that the back space is different between 70 and 71 wheels. Also they said that 71 center caps have a silver backround, are they correct??:Do No: thoughts? Thanks :cool:Ron:laugh:

Early '71 caps are silver background. Don't know if the later '71's are. My car was built in Dec. of '70. It has the silver caps.

'70-'72 15 X 7 wheels are listed in the '81 book as # 1240828. This number superceded 1236968 for all 3 years. A subtle difference there, somewhere.
'71 -76 chrome wheels had the silver background in the medallion bezels.

The build on the car I'm buying is 04C So how does that breakdown? I can decode a Mopar no problem but this GM stuff is new to me!!!:puzzled:

04C build date translates04 = 04th month, April, & C = 3rd week of that month.
I checked at George N.'s site for wheel reference & sure enough he had the answers.
The '70 15 X 7 wheel was stamped WG on the inside. It has a slightly wider outer lip at the bead area, about 1". Backset was 4".
The '71 & later 15 X 7 wheel was stamped (JJ) ? on the inside. The outer lip was about 5/8 wide. Backset was 4 3/8".
