I'm hoping someone can tell me if this will fit (with no rubbing) with some fairly low profile tires. My cars a 72 skylark, stock suspension.

I think you are going to be in trouble with 0 offset. I think I have 4 1/2" of offset on a set of 17" x 8" AR TTII rims I am currently running on my GSX.

You are confusing offset with backspacing...

An 8" rim with 0 offset would have 4.5" backspacing.

4.5" of backspacing will center the wheel in the rear wheel wells.

These are going on the skylark. Ordered 'em a few days ago and they came in today. Should look pretty sharp once i get the tires on.
