I haven't stopped drooling over the Aqua Mist 455 four speed. Now this one! I better get a bib!
I fully intended to photograph it ,while it was still intact.I guess I got overzealous! Anyway it's a bench seat ,pwr drum, pwr steering car, with a ralley wheel and gauges.Off to the stripper soon ,more pics to come.Joe:3gears: :3gears:

Crazy combo dash-wise. Idiot lights and tach????? I've seen idiot lights and blanks, or idiot lights and clock , but I had never those two.
Let me clarify, gauges, not lights(idiot lights.Kevin we need an update sir!Joe:3gears:

Gauges and what's on the other side ? Clock, tach, or blank? I'm thinking the combo is odd, whatever it is. Sorry about the bad info. My update is nothing of note , picturewise. Soon enough though. Looks real pretty , just won't stop. I'm doing some mechanicals, brakes, tuning etc.

Ok here is the update.............
The pics show the body on a roller frame .I like to have the body rigid while working it then after all body work is done it's back to the rotisserie. The pics of the lft side are after 1st priming, not to much rot damage.Rt side shows bad areas cut out and but weld repaired using donor patches panels.More to come.

Joe, are you using a mig or tig?
Jude ,everything I'll be showing here on this job will be mig.Have a great Holiday,

So this begs the question. Is anyone ever going to reproduce Buick out wheel houses? You have using donor car parts. I used donor parts on my last one too.
What if I need them on the next one as well?

thepartsplaceinc has the outers
I am basically in need of very small pieces and figured i would not chop a brand new piece. Also working my way through years of Arizona donor parts ,mostly 4 door donor parts at that. But the repro pieces do work well.Joe
Here is another update......
Pic#1 shows how I stop the rear body panel seam from imploding into a cracked piece of mess.I totally remove it.You can see the piece I remove ,see how the 2 panels are joined from the factory?Get rid of it make it one piece, weld it solid inside & out.Pic#2 Rr panel in work.Pic#3 in first stage of priming.Pic#4 Qtr dogleg done.Pic#5 Qtr.Rr of w/o repair.Left fender is not repaired yet, holes from old dent puller need some love.Doors and and rt fender in primer.Joe

Making any progress on this?
Lon Bauer
10-16-2009, 07:52 AM
Joe..looking good. I like the way you take care of that rear seam. My convertible has these cracks from years of torque/flex. I'm always looking at restored convertibles seeing the same crack starting again. Some put a channel like the hardtops but you can see the crack in the channel. Have you had any other problems with your fix?
Lon
"making any progress on this".Yes, but lots of priming and block sanding don't make for nice photos and conversation.:TU:

This car is the same color combo. as the '70 GS vert. I'm working on right now, except this one is a 455, with manual floor shift 3-speed. Only picture I have right now, it is a little farther along now.
John,
That would be 1 rare ragtop.Keep up the good work.We are done with ours, pics soon.

Congratulations o a job well done. It's great to see another one of the cars in a condition that is by all accounts better that it was new. The level of craftsmanship is a testament to your passion for the margue. Thank You.
Thank You very Much ,to all who appreciate and love these fine automobiles. Also lets realize how lucky we are to have a place like 'v8BUICK' to to talk about & see em!Thnx,Joe:TU: By the way to all ,stop by the car at the BPG,and have a cold one w/us.

Jim,
I was just messin with you and Joe but I could see why you would actually think about it. Joe does excellent work and I have seen a few of his "finished" cars. Joe likes them 1970 Stage 1 cars and yours are right up his alley. I've seen your automatic at BG last year and Norwalk this year. A very nice well documented car that runs great for sure. I'm sure Joe was thinking it over in his head too..... Anyway, I still buy mylotto ticket every now and then just in case.....
Enjoy that 4 speed....:3gears:
Hope to see you guys in Columbus....and it sounds like Joe is buying:beer

Lon, I wished you'd stopped by to say hello and have a beer. It is meeting new people and making new friends that make those Buick events memorable.
Joe stopped by to say hello and I enjoyed that immensely. As far as Joe thinking it over.... I haven't heard anything....yet. :beers2:
Jim
Hear ya go Matt,Thanks Joe
