Wanted to put chrome valve covers on my Lark....unable to get the
last bottom bolt out on the passenger side near the firewall.... only about
2" of room. What kind of tool...wrench, etc. do I need? Nothing I have
works! Can't see a thing down there. Thanks...::puzzled:

Unbolt the A/C compressor and swing it to the side with the lines still attached. You may have to unplug the electrical connections to get enough room. It will be nearly impossible to remove the valve cover with the compressor in place.

Thanks for the info.....the A/C hasn't worked for 25 years and I don't
need it. Can I unbolt the A/C compressor and get rid of it? What do I have
to do to those lines and wires running out of it? Would help clean up
the engine on that side. Any safety issues (freon)etc. does it have to
be capped off? Will affected the heater or motor in anyway?
THANKS

1/4" drive with a 3/8" X deep socket. Socket will be tall enough to clear the valve cover.

I know it's a pain, but if you remove the pass side motor mount bolt, then put a block of wood securely under the harmonic balancer, you can jack it up about an inch so you can remove and install the valve cover. You may have to remove the starter to get access to the motor mount bolt(so taking off the positive battery cable is a great idea) It is by far the easiest thing than trying to work it out and you don't take the risk of damaging the a/c box(in case you decide to re use it later on)

Thanks to everyone for the good advice....
A friend who is a "wrench" said he will bring his tools over tomorrow
and take a look. Should have bought a post car with NO A/C!:Dou:
