Any real tips for helping remove exhaust manifolds without breaking Bolts???
thats what I'm looking for, not replacement bolts.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Soak them for several days with Mouse Milk or the equivalent. The longer the better.

Put a little pressure clockwise then back counter clockwise.

Use a a short rachett to keep you from over doing it before it is ready.

Whenever possible use an impact wrench. The vibration helps to break these loose.

I bought my car 10 years ago and has been sitting since after my buddies started givin me crap about it sitting in the yard i finnally registerd it. my manifolds are leaking ans sounds like a$$ i am dreading even sarting this part of the project even though i am not keeping this motor in the car has to be done for me to be happy about driving my 185000 mile 70 sky convertable i will keep you posted on my removal i may start mine in the am GOODLUCK

Did my manifold gaskets to day wasnt as bad as i thought. all my bolts came out a few stubborn ones drivers side only took i hr did it from the top. with a swivel ratchet 6 pt 9/16 and 14mm one short extension.
pass side used the lift (my car is a/c) all the same sockets with one exception a ratchet wrench 14mm one the middle lower bolt with a pipe over it to break it free lower rear bolt was the only one i took out up in the air. never diconected the exhaust used a floot jack to hold up the engine pipe and manifold cleaned the gaskets used a little permatex copper the complete job took me 3 hrs of tough work and fiddleing
car sounds much better with no leaks :beer a few beers a dip in the pool to cool me off

somtimes, it is wise to remove the fender liners, which is fairly easy to do. then u can give a good smack on each manifold bolt with a big ballpeen hammer. and it u twist off a stid, then u have a direct shot on the stud for drilling/easyouting.

Another alternative is to remove the heads with the exhaust manifolds attached and take these to a machine shop.
