Alright, I must have a bad book or the wriong kind. I am getting closer to to the car being alive after being apart for some time.. I would like to know if any one has the proper routing for the vacuum lines for a 1955 buick super, and the wiring for the "automatic start" with the gas pedal. I have a wiring diagram and it seems easy to follow, however, the wires do not appear to be there,Or have been spliced with different color wire or wire from the 50's. Thanks for all the help you guys have been... Cheers.

Obviously from this distance I can't see what has been done to your car. If you are using stock components, such as the carb and the fuel pump, then it should be pretty easy to figure out. First off; - vacuum. The carb had one lead going to the distributor, usually right off the front of the carb. This would probably be a steel line. Next, it would have a larger lead going from the back to the power brake booster if so equiped. There shouldn't be much else, unless it was an A/C equiped car. Vacuum lines off the original equipment fuel pump would be one lead from the manifold, and the other going to the windshield wiper drive. The pump should be marked "in" (from the manifold) and "out" (to the wiper motor).

The starter switch will have one lead coming from the ignition switch, and the other going down to the starter. Take apart the harness and follow the leads. I don't know what colour those leads are supposed to be for that year, but I seem to remember them being green. If you have to wire it in from scratch, follow what your service manual says, make sure you hook it up to the right terminal on both the starter and the ignition switch.
If your car has been converted to a different carb, you may find that those wires that would normally go to the starter switch have been spliced together and the ignition switch replaced with a Chev or some other GM unit that would have a "START" feature on it.

Hope this helps...

Aren't these things fun when they have been modified..er 'personalized'?
Anyhow vacuum:
carb==>distributor vacuum advance
front of manifold--maybe two fittings
==>power brakes if equipped
==>lower front of fuel pump
lower rear of fuel pump==>Y connector near firewall
==>vacuum wiper motor
==>wiper switch thru firewall
wiper switch==>vacuum side of pump in washer jar

Start switch on carb should have 18g pink and yellow wires. Most of the time these wires were run back thru the firewall to a starter button, but there are many other possiblities. Note that the wires to the carb switch are NOT fuse protected and will fry the wiring harness if the the ignition switch is turned on while these are loose and grounding to the engine.

I think that I am missing this Y connector do you have a general idea of its location along the firewall?? Or a size that I can replace. Also general location of the Thru the firewall back to the Wiper switch. Thanks for all your knowledge and help..

You can eliminate the Y connector and go straight to the vacuum wiper motor. Any remnants of the vacuum tubing inside the dash would be crumbly and extremely hard to replace without removing the dash. This way you get the car functional...work on the washers later.
