BOP 2009 Bremerton Raceway Washington State
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wouldn't this year really be the year for an impressive BUICK showing in the spirit of the GSX reunion in Ohio!
Do you plan on attending? It is Saturday September 19th. See attached flyer. Please make the arrangements to get here; a noticably large BUICK turnout would really be in the spirit of things this year!!! Let's get those cars ready for the track and the show too!
If you plan on making a road trip to get here, let me know as I would be happy to help coordinate with local accomodations and get togethers. My property on Bainbridge Island should be available for a limited number of early travelers to RV it with their cars / trailers. I will be under construction but bring it on.
The BGP event last week is unforgetable and really has me in the mood to keep the spirit alive and well and it is only
as good as all of us local folks pulling together and "ralley" up.
Da Torquester.

Too bad. The 53 was a run-way (pun intended) hit.
I plan to be there too.

Hi Rick,
Unfortunately, I can't make it, as I'm helping our local car club in preparing for our big show in Squamish, The Rumble To The Rock 111, on September 20th. Hope this weekend proves to be great, weather-wise, for us all.
So Dave is bringing the race GS. Will he be driving it to the meet? Good luck to your group and have fun.
Please post pictures, and I'll do the same, after the weekend.
Nando.

Hi Jamie, I hope so too, the radar looks promising...pretty soggy on Bainbridge right now
Gorgeous weather all week, gorgeous next week (80's again), only today had the morning rain in the forecast.
I think this event scheduled in fall just blows and needs to be adressed. The issue is the track's permit only allows for 14 weekends of racing per year and the various events mixed into bracket racing that draw $$$ is what gets priority on the more predictably better weather dates. A couple years ago it was held in October :eek2:
What this creates is a big issue for attendance. The schedule conflicts this time of year with kids sports and throw in the iffy weather... I always miss one or two kids games to plan to attend this event. I know many guys that make the better choice and pass on this event to do the family thing. This is the last year I plan to go to this event if it does not move up on the callendar. It is not worth missing a kid's game, pissing of the Mrs., scramble to get the car ready, try to beat the weather only to get rained out  or low showing.

Rain!!! :af: Hopefully it clears up, I wanted to go down and watch you guys run. I have never been to one of your meets and I live 5 miles away. And I planned to go as a watcher since my Cat isnt a dragging wagon. More a cruiser. I know a few guys that go and they told me to come by. I just looked out the window and its still pouring.

It hasn't stopped all night in Bellevue, although that doesn't mean a lot for Bremerton.

Almost 11 AM and is down to a fine mist:TU:. Thats the trouble with the Evergreen State, we have to have the showers to keep it green. Seems like whenever I have plans it RAINS:rant: Ill probably put on the rain gear and float by.

I'm not making it over. For me, without any traffic, it's 90 minutes each way. More realistically it's about 2 hours. Had the weather been reliable I would have left earlier this morning. At this point it won't work out, since I was going to be leaving around 2:00.
Oh well, hopefully it dries enough for those who made it to get their runs in. If not, I hope they give refunds - It's been a while, but the tracks don't like to give money back.

They shortened up the event. Racers were fortunate to get one test run in since the weather kept the track wet untill 2 pm. No refunds unfortunately.
