Fantastic news Marco!!!!!!!!

Quick question, will there also be a car show for all other non Stage1 Buicks, just like there was at the 2009 show for all non GSX's?

As long as there's a V in the VIN (assuming it's the 72 in your signature) you're good to go:beer

Also, there is a separate show for all other cars not in the Stage1 show or concours class. Anyone can show their cars at these events.

May I bring a 1970 stage 1 4speed chassis, Fully Restored ???? Need to know so i can get started soon ! I will also bring the Iron head stage 2 race car , 2 1970s & the 69 convt stage1 Nick

Rustyoldbuick,
Having original engines is not a requirement, so you could certainly bring your car.

Nick,
Marco is looking for complete cars, with interiors, bodies, drivetrains, etc, so a chassis would not be allowed in. The cars don't have to be pretty but do have to be mostly complete.

Guys everyone needs to relax a little,
Don't get all worked up about the Host Hotel not accepting any reservations yet, we (BPG Management) have already talked to the Hotel Manager and have booked the entire Hotel for next year's event.

Until we meet with the Manager and establish the room rates no one will be able to book a room at the host hotel.

Plus if anyone books their rooms at any of the other hotels prior to us negotiating room rates, they will not receive the event discount.

Sometime later in the year we will contact the various Hotel managers, negotiate room rates, and then post the info on the various web sites.

Until then what we need is for everyone to contact us that wants to bring their car to the reunion. That way we will know the approximate numbers of Commerative License plates to order, and it will let us know how many hotels we need to talk to.

The more vehicles we get, the happier the Chamber of Commerce is, and the better leverage we have to get good room rates.

just to add to what duane said, my wife made early reservations at the holiday inn express for the gsx reunion. when we checked out and got our bill we asked the clerk if the BPG discount was on the total, she said no because the reservations were made before the discount was announced. after a little negotiating we were given 30.00 dollars off our bill.

While the Stage1 convention is for 'mostly complete cars', we do have sponsorships and vendor spots open to show off your excellent work. While the chassis will not get a plate, it is most welcome to be displayed at the show, probably just like Ken's GSX at the GSX reunion. The chassis generated a lot of interest and also displayed the fine restoration work your shop does.

We appreciate any complete cars you can bring - just let us know so we can reserve your plate(s).

..also we can have 'Nick vs. Carl' - round II of the Lobster Claw Championships

It takes me 8 hours (weather permitting) to drive my Buick there the 450 miles from the Philadelphia area.

Do it Nick!...if you still own the convertible next July...

There's no issues driving these fine cars long distances at high RPMs...as long as you have oil pressure and are not overheating.

Try to caravan with others, as there's safety in numbers...although my first BPG Nationals in Salem I dropped a tool box in the trunk (first time since owning the car 7 years prior) and took off at the last minute.

Just to clarify...the factory stage1 cars that attend don't need to be pretty - but they do need to be some-what complete.

This means that we really aren't looking for cars dragged out of a field where they sat for the previous 10 years that are partially stripped, missing engines or body panels.

If anyone has any additional questions regarding this, please contact me. Thanks!

'69 hardtop, automatic, antique gold (code 77)
all original except tranny (have a true 69 BB that will be going in it)
won't be a judged car

If anyone has a reservation at the Quality Inn in Heath, it is now closed. You need to make alternate hotel reservations. Apparently, the owners closed the doors and walked away. FYI.

Got another '73. Unfortunately, one of the '70s had to drop out.

Still at 61 cars. I have updated the first post on the BPG website with all current attendees.

If you responded, please make sure you are listed. I need to have an accurate count for the license plates.

Thanks!

Thanks Joe. This is the green car? Do you want it judged concours?

************************************************** ***
65 Gran Sports coming. The BPG post (linked in the first post of this thread) has been updated.

In the event we have left-over commemorative license places, participants only may be able to purchase an additional copy - only after the show is over. Quantities are limited. One only, on a first-come first-serve basis. I will be making a note of who wants an additional plate as you enter the show area, as all additional-plate requests may not be honored. Pricing to be determined.

Also to note: All participants in the Stage1 Convention, unless they are being judged concours, do not pay the regular car show fee - just the spectator fee. This includes participants who want their car judged in the street/race classes. Stage1 Convention participants who want their car judged concours will need to pay the normal car show fee. Any passengers/additional people will also need to pay spectator fees. If you choose to race, and you did not pay the car show fee, you must also pay a race fee and have your car teched as normal.

Please see all pricing HERE (http://www.buickperformancegroup.com/forums/showthread.php?9478-2010-Event-Flyer).

Participant spectator and street-driven/race-class judging pricing
Member - $20
Non-member - $25

Concours car show
Member - $40
Non-member - $50

Yes, you can sign-up at the gate to be a BPG member (although you will get your membership processed sooner if you sign-up earlier  ).

As always, please contact me directly with any questions/concerns. :Smarty:

THANK YOU!

We're at 69 cars!

The list of attendees has been updated on the BPG website.

Please remember, you have to tell either Duane or myself if you're coming so we can reserve a plate for you. If you just 'show-up', you run the risk of not getting a plate at all.

Is this theoretical or factual? I'm still coming, but Mooney isn't bringing his, and Jason just told me he isn't going.

Larry,
The actual number can't be determined until we count how many cars actually show up.

It's just like what happened last year, some said they were going, then said they wern't, then came anyway. Or people sold cars, took their name off the list and the new owners brought them.

Last year we signed up 105 cars and 93 showed up. Some people that said they were going didn't show up, while we had some "gate crashers".......................so what is the actual number, we will find out this coming Saturday.

The bottom line is we will have an "S" load of Stage 1's there.

Bringing my 70 stage 1 unrestored original car. Blue with white painted roof. Car engine is all original. Still has factory GM AC belt and original deluxe buckets, am FM, rim blow wheel, pulled it out of a storage garage since it was put there in 1976. Door sticker says 10-69 build.

Yes, some have dropped out. This is the first I'm hearing of Mooney.

I already know of 2 gate crashers, and I received another 4 today. We should have enough plates that everyone gets one, so 'crash away'!

See you all Thursday!

I have more I will try to post after I get home - currently we are in a hotel on the way home! A Great Weekend! I can not say enough positive about all the BPG BOD folks and volunteers that sacrificed their own time to enjoy this great event to make it possible for the rest of us to have so much fun. I want to throw a special shout-out to Sean Ryder who seemed to be everywhere and was always available to answer many tough questions and keep things flowing smoothly. There are many others deserving of recognition including Marco for making the Stage 1 Reunion happen!

I would like to thank all the participants who attended the 2010 factory Stage1 Convention at the 2010 BPG National event at NTR.

All in all, 62 cars were in attendance. 42 people who previously responded they were coming did not show up. Of those 42, 5 did have family emergencies and informed me prior to the event. The other 37 people? Maybe the economy did not permit them to attend or they had other things going on as well :Do No:

Anyway, we all had a great time. It was great to meet many more people and put faces to names. There were 4 original owners in attendance that I am aware of. If there are others, please let me know. It's these special people who ordered these cars new that give us a reason to enjoy these cars now. If they didn't order them, we wouldn't be able to ogle them, or own them ourselves. Three of them trailered their cars over 1000 miles. That's dedication!

Gary Paine (OH) - 1969 GS400 - dealer installed stage2 package (with documentation) - 180 miles
Bill Macoubrie (MO) - 1970 GSX 10-10 - 1030 miles
Sydney Varner (NB) - 1972 GSX - 1300 miles
Bill Arseneau (NB) - 1972 GS - 1350 miles

The special awards....
Rattiest - Wayne Andersen (NC) - 1970 GS
Most Original - Tom Klepsky (OH) - 1974 Riviera Stage1 (20K miles)
Longest Driven - Brandon Greetham - (WI) - 1973 GS 700 miles
Longest Trailered - Bill Arseneau - (NB) - 1972 GS 1350 miles

1970 Street Driven Class
Ajesh Parikh - 1972
Rob Ross - 1970
Jim Jerichow - 1970

1970 Race Driven Class
Gary Paine - 1969 GS400 Stage2
Dennis Lyons (MA) - 1971
Bobb Mackley (MI) - 1972

Again, thank you for making the 2010 Factory Stage1 Convention a success.
