Getting back in the BBB saddle

I've crusied this board for a while but never posted yet. I've recently decided to get back into the Big Block Buick saddle.

I have an 84 Regal which I bought from South Carolina in high school and immediately dropped a Stage 1 455 in it. After a couple years of mods and beating on it i wiped a main bearing. I took the engine apart intending to build a better one. I then ran across a great deal on an 87 Turbo T. Being in my early 20's I then back-burnered the 455 project and regal all together.

After a year or so of driving the Turbo T the body rust (northern car) was starting to get bad I decided to transfer all of the turbo stuff to the 84.

Now after having the turbo car for 10 years and working on it more than I drive it I decided to sell the turbo drivetrain and go back to a big block.

I'll be dropping in a 430 I acquired from my brother when he sold his 83 Regal to me.

There are so many more pieces to the story I'm leaving out (broken frame x-member, Stage 2 cam, college stories) but I don't want to post a novel about myself.

I'll keep you posted with updates and photos as I get back to where I started from.

I can almost smell the exhaust! The engine is in, and the wiring is complete. I still need to run the trans cooler lines, install the gas tank, and bleed the rear brakes.

I don't know why I ever abandoned the big block in the first place.

I'll post more/better quality pics when I get a chance.

Cool that it is a "non-ac" car instead of the usual "ac with no compressor but stuff still hanging around" car. Makes for a much nicer engine compartment.

Buttoned it up and fired it up today. I'm thrilled to see it all together and running again. Hopefully I can get out and shake it down before it gets too late in the year.

I have lots of changes I want to make but I also wanted to get it on the ground and running again.

Still want to run -6 lines for the trans cooler, replace the power steering hose with something that actually looks decent, re-route the fuel lines, etc...

Cool! Will the stock hood fit over the carb.?

Not sure if the stock hood will fit. I have the turbo hood and if it's close I might try to make it fit.
