I have been after this car since 1984 when I first met mike the owner and we became friends he has in the past helped me with parts for my other buicks and I have always wanted his. As years went by I got out of buicks and have missed the old days of riding down the drag with my budds and watching people try to figure out what is that??? yes the car that just SMOKED YOU IS A BUICK!!! HAHA!! I am now in my late 30's and felling like I need a pick me up when a friend Stacey called and said Mike was thinking about selling he car so I stoped everything and called him and yes he was thinking about it and it only took TWO more years to give me a price after a few laughs and some talk of buick memories we made the deal I know he loves this car and he allways will and he knows I have allways wanted it and that I am thankfull to have got it. Now for the history the car. Bought new in 1970 from my home town of Greensboro NC and has never left here I am the 4th owner. The car needed some work when I got it in sep. last year so begins the headache of fixing her up the moter was already done and the car was ROCK SOLID as are most here in NC so time to get parts and put her on the road thanks to tom baker larry miller wayne wattley dave tumas corey attley and many more the car is now on its way to be completed the car WILL NOT BE FOR SHOW!!!!! I want to drive her and enjoy SMOKING A FEW FORD AND CHEVY GUYS!! I have driven her and it was a wonderfull thing I have also come very close to selling as I do not have a lot of pations (I SUCK AT SPELLING! SORRY ) FOR fixing cars up I have a love for them just no time and I dont have deep pockets as some other people do but if all goes well this time next week she will have a new paint job on her and the interior will be new and in place I will post pics at that time I feel I need to say some of the nicesest people I have ever met have been buick fans I can not explain it they are in a class all there own and I am so thankfull for the help and most inportantly the support they will never know how much it has ment to me and how much I will enjoy this lady (its not just a car I have to show her some respect ) I think I will name her after my best friends old buick that got me started in this buick thing "Suzie Q" well hope this is what you were interested in hope I have not rambulled on to much and please forgive my spelling thanks

Ryan - You hit the nail on the head (no pun intended :) ). Buick people rule.
Thanks for updating us on the progress of your car. We all will look forward to the pictures. Good luck with 'Suzie Q'.

Great story, Ryan. And the car does look solid from the pics you posted. I hope your paint job comes out really nice and you get to enjoy hitting the occasional show... and spanking some of those Ford guys! :Brow:
More pictures when progress occurs, please!

Ryan, what sort of media did they use when blasting the paint off your car? It sounds like an ideal way to remove paint but I've heard that it toughens the skin of the sheetmetal and makes it difficult to work with. I suppose it comes down to the operator.

it was blasted with plastic after talking with many resected body guys they all said it was the way to go and being they knew a lot more than me that is the route I chose. Like you I think a lot depends on the operator. thanks for all the replies I will be sure to post more pics as she begins her transformation haha

Ryan,
Looking Good, Buddy!
You think it's coming slow? Looks like you have a decent pace going to me! What's your projected timeframe to have it roadworthy. Of course you'll have to multiply by at least two for the actual time.

That looks like great progress! In the time its taken yours to get fully painted and striped, my car has had the doors and fenders bolted on. My body man needs some speed lessons!!!
Larry, Wayne, Tom and the rest of the Carolinas chapter are good people. I miss the chapter down there. Have fun!

just got it home and still putting stuff on its kind of fun but now I can see why people restore cars in the winter it is just to darn hot thanks for the feedback and LaMarr love to see your 67 hope we can meet up some time. Jim I will not be able to make it to the show as my little girl is to be born on july 10 and after she gets here I will park the buick for a very long time and enjoy looking out in the garage every now and then

Would love for you to have made it.
The son the dealer where your car was sold, Galloway Buick, and I served together as assistant attorney generals a long, long time ago. His father used to give him a new Buick to drive it seemed like every month. Are they still in business?

yes they are still open and I want to get a picture of my car at gallaway Buick. I do not know the 1st owner he had the car only from 70-71 he was the son of the mayor of greensboro in 1970 and I am going to see if he is still around maybe give him a ride haha but as for the 2nd and 3rd owner they are still in greensboro as the story goes the 1st owner got busted racing and daddy took it away and sold it hope I can find him I would love to here the story first hand. the second owner sold it in the late 70s or early 80s "I cant remember but I have the title from the 3rd owner to tell when " anyway he sold it as gas prices were going crazy at that time "remember the lines at the stations and even odd days " hope we never go back to that again
