We kept hearing people say you don't need bead screws unless you are doing 1.40 60' times.

Tyler's best is 1.58. Here is how far his tire moved this weekend.

He will be getting new wheels this winter and screws will be going in to them.

Got the left front up about a foot and half. right tire is firm on the ground. Got a good twist to it.

A little movement on the rim can save your axles. I screwed mine and shortly after broke a stock axle spline (driver side) tunning 1.48 60 ft.

Put screws in them. What if they start slipping more next time. Safety first!!!!

It's not the 1.58 60' thats slipping the tire, it's the chrome wheels. If you break the tires down and scuff the inner wheel lip real good they wont move anymore. On my white car I run low 1.30 with no screws and the tires don't budge.

We have Moser axles. I sure hope they won't break lol.

I am actually about to get some aluminum wheels from summit, I don't want to mess these up any. I will put them back on my GSX.

Alan, Tyler is getting a drag bar this winter. We had all stock except for adjustable uppers and bags. Going to put the bar and good lowers in before next season.

On my corvette I had to put screws in the wheels. I think torque has a lot to do with tire slippage on wheels. My first 3 passes I only had 1.90 60' times but the tires were moving 1.5" or more. The more passes I made back to back the worse it got. I put the screws in and no more problems, with tire slippage anyhow. :TU: Now it just spins through the 60'. I guess it'll take some tire pressure playing next season.

To screw or not to screw!

If you decide to add screw one thing to be careful with is make sure your screws are “indexed” meaning make sure the screws on each side of the rim are in the same place.

I’ve traced inconsistency problems down to that on a few cars.

If you ever look at a tire wrinkle on launch the wrinkle starts at the screw, so if the screws aren’t indexed the tire tries to twist itself from different points.

I hope this saves you guys some grief, I know it helped me.

That H&R bar untwisted my pretzel - my avitar pic is before the install. Best 60' before the bar was a 1.76. Only ran it a few times this year with the bar added but I did click off a 1.69 and 1.68 now that the car is level and ran 2/100ths off my best ... in far from good air. Quite a few people are using the H&R bar specifically

I have been looking at Sohn Performance's rear drag bar. It welds on instead of bolting on.

Oic, I think I am going to end up buying that bar instead of the Spohn one. I should have it sometime after christmas, and if I could just get my car back from the paint shop, I can install it.
