Go back and edit your profile and add a signature with your name at the bottom. Everyone's on a first name basis here, kinda like family.
You've done a great job on that car. The wheels really do it. How long did it take? How long since finished? Congrats on a nice ride and welcome to the board.:TU:

Beautiful car man! :TU:
Any wheel well rub with the big fatties?
It sure is hard to deny that 69 hood isn't it? :Brow:

Yeah the hood was on it when I got it and so was the whole air cleaner assembly! So....why not! It also has a 69 rear bumper. I took alot of time to measure the wheels to get it right, they are American Racing Hopsters 16X7 front and 16X8 rear with 4/34 backspacing on Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's 225/55 front and 255/50 rear, thought yu might like to know.:TU:

Hey, that is one beautiful resto! Do you have any before pics??? Those are always nice to look at for comparison. I love the color. Is it original? If not, what was the original color? How long have you had it? Know any history on it? Did you do most of the work yourself? (In other words, give us the whole story. :) ) I agree that third pic is a great one. Would love to see it on a calendar someday.
So, you middle name would be "Lee" would it? (Bet you get that all the time....)
Anyway, congratulations on a beautiful car. I'm sure you'll have fun ripping around in it this summer. :TU:

David, I would like to think that if I used those same wheels and tires I would be good to go, but then I remembered that you said you had a 4.11 rear, which obviously is not original, so I'm assuming that maybe you do not not have the original "drum to drum" dimensions and this enabled you to clear the wheel wells with a little bit more of a "narrower" rear than the stock one??
Also, does your speedometer read accurately still? If so, what did you do to compensate for the bigger wheels?
Thanks!
Ken

Thanks Ken Mild & Ken Lisk,
First the wheels and tires, when I got the car the previous owner was a "Racer"(more on that later) and he put the rear togeather, as far as I know it's the stock housing with a different gear set. I have the original drums on all fours (rebuilt) and plan to up grade to 4 wheel disk as soon as funds allow. I didn't have to cut the original wheel well at all and can use the uncut wheel well trim also! There is alot of room under there, my buddy has stuffed a 275/60/15 TA Radial under the stock fender well on an 8 inch rim with a 5 inch backspace! !
Secondly the whole story for those intersted...
I bought the car from a Racer some might know Jeff Reinoehl he owns Insane Racing (www.insaneracing.com) it was his daily car for a number of years (Old Blue). He did race it some though, but when I got it it needed almost everything but the drive train was intact for the most part. I stripped the whole car down, detailed the engine (twice) had it painted base/clear original Blue Poly put in a new Legendary interior (of fair quality) complete PST front end
sway bars, shocks KYB's, exhaust, headres, intake carb,HEI, the list go on.... but it turned out decent. thanks for all your interest everybody makes it all worth the effort ! Here is the before pic.

There are several nice shows in the area. The best Buick show is the BCA show at Miller Motors (Baltimore) in late Sept. There is a nice BOP/all GM show in Rockville Aug 9 at the Montgomery College campus. There are some nice hot rod shows Damascus MD July 18/19 and the best one is also in Damascus in Sept (end of the season awards, every hot rod show up!).
I will try to post on the board any local shows, although I generally look around DC.
Nice Car!

David,
BEAUTIFUL!
Is that a small block shroud in there?
How does it cool? Usually they say you should see half of the fan blades for proper setup.
Just curious. :Do No:

Oops! My bad. Looked a little closer and it looks like a big block shroud, it's just so clean it threw me off. :)
I DID notice that you are using an overflow tank. I'd like to do this eventually too, especially when it looks as tasteful as that. Obviously someone, if not you, took the time to make sure it didn't look tacky and it paid off. What year overflow jug is it, do you know? I see two hoses going to the top. Where are the origins and destinations??

David, sure understand why you wouldn't want to give it away, glad you are here on the board and if it sells hope this board can put you in line with a new owner. To be honest with you my brother was very interested, he however really needs a ride with air conditioning or the bride won' let him buy it. Good luck David !!!
Hi David,

Hey David,
This has sold me on aftermarket wheels. I've been debating on AR wheels versus original rallyes & now i know what i'm putting on my 69GS. I've been thinking about Torque Thrust II's & these. What kind of Edelbrock intake is that & is the q-jet stock or performance modified? Did you have any clearance problems with the intake, or did you have plenty of room to spare?
My hat is off to you for a very nice restification!:beer

05-28-2003, 10:04 AM
Thanks Rick, The intake is the Edelbrock Preformer it is the only aftermarket intake that I know of that will fit under the stock Ram Air set-up fro these cars. I sent the Q-jet to California and had it rebuilt for preformance. The Torque Thrust II look good but cost more and EVERYBODY has them so I went with the Hopster's, if you look back at the thread I give the wheel & tire size. I have a set of 14 inch stock wheels also and they are cheep, that way I have the best of both worlds!:bglasses:
