It's still early and I haven't gotten all the things planned out yet but it will happen and in the coming months. I put on a small show last year for a fund raiser. It went okay but I want to do better this year so we will be having this one up in the mountains on our place.

Wanna camp? Bring your stuff. Do it on our place or do it at the local state park which is one of the most visited parks in TN.

Or stay here in Johnson City at the motels listed below.

Want cool mountain roads? Plenty of them around and I hope to have a whole line of Buicks on one of them.

Got the local fire dept coming up to cook a big ole HOG on the fire! They do this several times per year for a fundraiser and will do it at our place for this show to help make money.

Gonna rent a stage from the local town for music. What kind? Not sure yet but tunes of some kind.

Dry county so BYOB just don't get out of hand since there will be children there too.

Wanna work on the car? Come early and use my shop. Got almost anything you need along with a rack. Not offering this to just anyone but you Buick owners are welcome. I have a friend that's a trained mechanic that has agreed to come up and work if needed. He will be cheaper than any shop you probably use. Also got another friend that owns a custom stereo/tint and graphic shop that will work with us if anyone needs anything while you're here.

Wanna run a 1/4 mile? I will have this on one of the same days Bristol is having their street fights so several of us can go down and watch or run. Might even have cone races in the parking lot if we are lucky.

I will PM a few of you I have met and expect action!

Right now it looks like late May. As things shape up I will update. A local car club throws one of these mountain shows each year and gets over 500 vehicles. I don't expect anything like that since it's the first year but with much help I hope to get many people.

Here's a few websites:
This is our farm website. Actual address of the shop is 1030 Green Creek road in Bakersville, NC 28705.
www.roanvalleytrees.com

Our property joins this mountain. Beautiful views and if I do this in June rhododendron may be in full bloom. That's when we get our visitors up there. The TN/NC state line is on top of the Roan.

Here's a link to the drag's schedule. Very fun event and hundreds of cars running. Times are from 19-10 secs and cars of all sorts.

Here's the local state park. It's just a jump over the mountain on the TN side. Beautiful place.

Here's a listing for motels in the city I live in here in TN. Plan on meeting early and driving a convoy over the hills and through the woods to the farm. Did I say we need Buicks?

Here's a couple shots from where we will have the car show. Right next to 3 large fish ponds. It will not be this cold when we have the show I promise.

Also got the Saturday night car cruise in historic Elizabethton, TN. Up to 300 cars can show up on good nights. Below is a pic of downtown where we outline the road with customs and classics.

Enough with the sales pitch. I will be working on this over the coming weeks and will update. We need you there if you are close enough to come. I would love to see a good representation of Buicks there! That has never happened in this area before.

Yeah, not much response on this one. Thanks for the TTT! Been in contact with a mobile dyno about possibly renting for the day. Depends on their quote as to where I will go that route. Got music lined up to play that day. Need to get a date in concrete.
So, any Buick guys coming or not?

We'll be there John as long as it's after the 15th of May. Before that I'll be concentrating on graduation (finally!!) Only one X clone left in the stable but we'll be sure to bring it

Finally a Buick coming! Getting worried none of you guys liked me. LOL
Look forward to seeing you Eddie! I will be checking with the cooks and the dyno people (assuming I can afford it) on a concrete date. Might be the first Sat. in June as of now.

Now, where's the others coming from?

You know how much trouble "guys" have with "commitment"!:pp

If nothing else, I'd like to at least take a nice leisurely drive down. MapQuest shows it to be about 175m. from me. It would be fun to go to Thunder Valley, but, we'll see........

I bet when the TN Buick boys (paging Mr. Hirt, Mr. Big) get wind they may be on board as well.

TN Buick Boys where are you?? I have 2 automotive loves. Buicks and old Toyota Supras. Started life on the road in both and will always be attached. However, it's all Chevy here. Drive something else to a show/cruise and don't even get noticed. They almost break their legs trying to walk over my cars to see a Camaro or Chevelle. It gets old to say the least. Bring some Buicks please. Dad loves Olds so tell your buddies to bring them too. Got a Chevy? Bring it because I know the locals will love it LOL. BUICK ROLL CALL. You have enough time to plan for this.

Looks like I have confirmed the dyno to be there. Gonna cost us close to a grand but I have always wanted to have one present at a show locally. They will charge $50 for 2 pulls. Also will allow adjustments if you pay a little extra for the extra time used. He will be there rain or shine. If raining he will be running inside our shop.

Come on guys!! I want Buicks!!!!!!!!!!!

I drove up to Addco sway bar company which is pretty close to the farm where we are having this show and picked up 2 bars today. One was for our A-Bodies. Jegs gets over $200 plus shipping for it but walk into the office sale price is a flat $100! I am running their bars on my GS, a 442, 2 old Supras and my 71 Riviera. The Riviera really drove better after installing them and the GS handled better too. So, if anyone is coming to the show and wants a set of bars let me know and I will make sure they have them in stock. They have to pull them from the shelves and put powder coating on them the day before.

Gret Michael! Haven't gotten the response here that I had hoped for but it does look like if the weather is good we will be getting many people locally to show up. Flyers are passing along smoothly and car clubs have been notified! Should be a blast!!

I still can't commit to coming 100%. A family get together is the same day. So if I do get to come, it may be later in the day.

On a brighter note, my brother dropped off a set of tires for me to use on the GS. So when I get those mounted and dispose of the 30something year old, dry rotted wonders that are on it now, I can at least trust driving it further than from the garage to the yard!

Went great! Better than I ever expected. Kids stayed busy with hay rides, paddle boat and inflatable slide. HP junkies lined up and watched the dyno run almost 20 cars on the day. Fire dept. sold all their food and made plenty of money. Had 2 local business owners offer to sponser for the next show. Little less than 200 cars and many spectators when I didn't really expect half that! For a first year event it was awesome and I didn't hear one complaint! Everyone was happy and saying they would spread the word to make it the biggest car event in our area for the future. Great to hear several older car owners say it was the greatest show/cruise they had ever attended in 30 years plus! And more than 10 people have begged us to have it 2 times per year. They want a fall event too when all the leaves turn.
But, one down side. Only one other Buick showed up other than our own. As usual I can't get Buick owners out for events. In your behalf Dwayne, you had a long drive so I understand. However there are Buick owners close to me that just don't travel.
On a good note. Since I also collect old Toyota Supras I invited several online Supra owners to attend. Several of them made it and I saved a place at the entrance for us all to park together. One owner drove up from Atlanta and all of them will be back. They already are pushing for flyers to start handing out in their areas.
Have a few pics to post but left my camera up in North Carolina and it will be a few days until I get back up there.

I'm glad it went so well for you John! I knew it would be good! Wasn't the drive that kept me away. Life always has a different idea of what I need to do that usually doesn't coincide with what I want to do.
