Hi All,
I have a M20 and I pulled the back tail shaft today because my driven speedo gear keeps getting shredded. It was my understanding that I just pop out the plastic gear and swap. Well when I got it all apart I found out its a steel gear on the shaft and I don't have a clue how it would even come off to replace it with plastic one I bought. Will uploads some pic's later when I get home. Thanks

the metal gear is pressed on & off.the plastic gear requires a metal clip to retain it.if there isn't a hole in the mainshaft to hold the clip, you will have to use the metal gear.

so how do i press it off? Both sides of the shaft look bigger than the gear but i would assume press out towards drive shaft. If the tranny is still bolted on will a puller take it off? or do I have to drop tranny? My speedo gear (driven) is getting chewed up and from my calculations I need a 8 not 6 teeth gear. The metal is a 6. I assume if no notch on shaft my plastic wont work can i get a metal 8? Sorry no experience with muncies. Thanks again for the help.
