Direct from the Sloan Museum. Many thanks to Andy for his help in this research.

For 1969 - 1972 models.
All 1969 factory Gran Sport Stage1 cars, both hardtops and convertibles, were built in Flint MI only (plant code 'H') All 1970 factory Gran Sport Stage1 cars, both hardtops and convertibles, were built in Flint MI only (plant code 'H') In 1971, all 81 factory Gran Sport convertible Stage1 cars were ONLY built in Flint MI (plant code 'H'). The 801 hardtops were built in one of three plants - Flint MI (plant code 'H' - 612 cars), Framingham MA (plant code 'G' - 56 cars), and Freemont CA (plant code 'Z' - 133 cars). In 1972, all 81 factory Gran Sport convertible Stage1 cars were ONLY built in Flint MI (plant code 'H'). The 728 hardtops were built in one of three plants - Flint MI (plant code 'H' - 463 cars), Framingham MA (plant code 'G' - 147 cars), and Freemont CA (plant code 'Z' - 118 cars).I hope this clears up a couple things for everyone.

Great Info!

Our '72 Stage 1 was build in Fremont and we have always wondered how many were build there...mystery solved...Thanks!

It's funny how thrilled we all get when info like this is discovered. It doesn't make our cars look or drive any different but we crave these numbers!

Marco I promise to FINALLY send you the info for our '72 and a '70 Stage 1 4-speed, very soon.

Why is it that ONLY Flint buildt Stage 1 Convertibles in 71 & 72? I can't think of any unique "conv only" stage parts, can you?:puzzled: :Do No: :puzzled:

Hey Marco, thanks for the info. In another thread you had someone send you the documentaion on a Stage 1 he had, but it was looking like it was going to get parted.....is the registry only for driveable cars or ????

I think Marco wants EVERY factory stage 1, whether drivable or not, parted or crushed!

:TU:

Yep, even the ones which have been tubbed. Condition could be part of the 'Special Comments' section on the registry.
