View Full Version : refinished these wheels need honest opinion

i got a set of 14 inch rally wheels for next to nothing but they were all rusted up and peeling so i sent them to be sand blasted primed and repainted them with some duplicolor wheel paint
let me know what you think about the color

Look fine to me. Are you going to use the trim rings with these? It was an option for the 14's. I did the same things with the wheels on my 69 GS California back in 81-82. They looked great with the centers and rings installed. The pic isn't too hot but you can see the trim rings shining.

Is the chrome area just painted too? I think they look great!

yes the chrome is painted the second pic is what i started with after the sandblasting,
thanks for the input these are the first thing i've redone on a car besides replace broken parts

Looking good!:TU: Just make sure the metal is perfectly clean before painting, and they will last a long time. The big secret to a good paint job is a good prep job. Any contaminant will make the paint flake off over time. This includes oils in your skin, so don't ever touch 'paint ready' parts. clean them with a commercial 'pre-all' prior to paint. Keep up the good work!:TU:

No clear/sealer?
I think they look great also. I was just thinking an extra coating of clear would help keep them clean and looking good.:TU:

IMO the Buick wheels you did look great, and they make a dramatic improvement in the looks of your car.

Did you use the duplicolor aluminum colored paint or chrome?

duplicolor aluminum i think it was last year still have the can at the shop will see tomorrow
