Got pictures of my partually completed "kit" that should be making it's way to me soon.

Will post up dates to hopfully get more kits sold to others.

Plan on having the car at BG with it put on "out of the box".

I just saw the pic of your engine. Looks nice. Don't you think and Aluminum block would look better than that iron one? LOL.

The engine you see in the picture is not mine.

That is an engine being used for the set up by the shop.

Tempting to get one of the aluminum engines, but if I brought one we both will be looking for a place to call home

There's Michael, in his ragged clothes, pushing a shopping cart around with a blown Aluminium BBB. I would be in the same boat!

I like the size of the idler pulley. That is a better setup than my ATI spring loaded one. I find that I am flexing my bracket about .01 Can you do a side view? How are you coming an all the other details? It will seem endless!

I wanted to do something to it today, so I put it back together to start with just the new carburetor (Quick Fuel 750 blow-through).

I set carburetor and made timing adjustments

Maybe it is because of the cam that is in it (TA310), but it ran pretty good.

It is only a 750 since that is what I was told all I would need with the Procharger.

First time it has been out of the garage this year and boy was it dusty.

Drove it to the gas station to put in five gallons of gas.

Idling in park does fine but driving it down the road is ........ well. It loads up while going down the road and when I tried to clear it out, it brakes the tire loose.

At stop signs, it brakes the tires loose.

I think the rear end already hates me.

Are you running a wideband 02 sensor?

sailbrd

Bobb M said he had to go down 4 jet sizes when he used my carb on the 370 SBB. We will have to see how the 650 compares with the 750 for mostly street use.

Also check the float level on the QuickFuels. Mine was off the chart high out of the box.

No,

not with a carburetor

Mainly I wanted to see how it would run with just the carburetor.

Did/Have you ran your engine with out blow any air to it?

The power valves were open at crusing speed

I was wondering where to set the floats. They were really high. I put them in the middle of the sight glass.

sailbrd

Float level in the middle is perfect. Make sure fuel pressure is a nice constant 6to7 psi.

Been thinking about the power valve. I think it is a 4.5 so should not be coming open at cruise. If it does open without boost it should be rich as the power valve channels are bigger on a blow through carb.

I expect we will both have a lot of tuning going on this summer. Now if only the weather will cooperate. I have to go get some propane so I can work on the car today... it's snowing:af:

Started mine up a few hours ago with the 650 QF. Seems to be great at idle. Did not touch a thing since Bobb ran it on Anthonys motor. Idles at 850 and has 12 inches vacuum. AF guage was around 14:1 at idle. Did not drive it yet weather is crap. A light rap of the throttle and it sounds like a super mod. Looking for another place to get vacuum for the bypass valve and better weather.

doug you need to be getting that pop off signal from the manifold. you prob. have a fitting on top of a runner just add a fitting and add line. then go do some big burnnies:TU:

Doug,

What intake are you using?

I have an older B4B (has both patterens though).

Mine idled at 11 1/2 inches of vacume.

sailbrd

Bobb,
I was using the vac source off the carb and it is ported not direct. So yes going direct to the manifold. I need a vacuum tree, PVC, brakes, bypass, and timing dial back. Fuel regulator ties to the carb hat.

Main thing yesterday was to make sure all the fluids were not going on the garage floor. I think I should get stock in oil dry.

Micheal,
I use a SP-1 manifold. Only problem with the thing is the limited hood clearance.

Day one.

Have the main part on the motor.

For the most part everything is going as planed, but there are issues.

Maybe it is because of the way I already had things set up is the reason for some.

Got some done today. The unit and new water pump are on for good.

Thought I had all the belts lined up,but the alternator has it own plan.

Time for bed..............

On to the making of new radiator hoses.

Almost there.

All was going good until I did a clearence check then all bets were off. The hat was 3/4 inch to tall.

I put a lower profile hat on and it now clears the hood. But had to take the unit on and off a few more times (lost count really).

Had to reclock the back housing while doing some clearancing. When grinding on a $3000.00 unit, you don't want to take off more than you have to.

Will take pictures tomorrow.

I was complaining to my tranny builder about hood clearance. His solution... just lower the motor. Works good with stripped down race cars. There are days I just want to throw a chevy style hood on and forget it. I am going to run two AFR guages soon and see if I have any difference between sides with the carb hat I have.

What kind of clearance problems are you having with the blower? I did do a very slight "massage" on my fender liner. Looking forward to pictures.

Doug,

That sounds like a good idea, but my $300.00 oil pan is even with the crossmember now.

Have it all together now. I am anxious and nervus at the same time. All I need to do is put in the coolant.

The bad part is I can't get it out of the garage for about three days :( because we just had the front bricked up.

could not take it any more had to start it.

I open the main garage door by hand (disconnected the automatic opener).

It started with authordy and ran well. After it warmed up I cut it off and went over all the nuts and bolts.

Bad thing is when I will be able to get it out of the garage, it will be raining.

The problem I was having was a bulge on the compressior housing (bolt boss)that was keeping me from clocking to get the outlet to the proper angle that I needed to meet up with the carburetor hat (tall Posten's valve covers).

One of the pictures I have on Photobucket shows me holding a 7/16 inch wrench between the unit and the inner fender. That clearance is great.

The biggest problem I had is that the low profile hat that came in the kit was to tall by about 3/4 of an inch.

Short drive staying in the neighborhood did not even get to look at the guage the two times I got into boost.

The back tires did not stand a chance  .

Do you have power steering in there?

Must be the belt slipping that I am hearing. No way are we going to sneak up on anyone. Looking really good.

My motor is going to Finishline Monday.... for a spun #7 :spank: I am getting to good at this engine pulling.

At the rod run when I pulled in, someone asked if I had a BBC with a gear drive.

I just said no, They do not make a gear drive for a BBB (not that I would want one).

Gear drive or BBC.

It is a head turner.

Sorry to hear about your #7

If I open the hood will just say its the new air conditioner.

Doug,

How much hot oil pressure do you run at idle?

What type front cover do you have on your engine?

I am running 32 pounds hot oil pressure with a TA cover (adjustable regular).

At first, I was concered that I did not put in enough oil in the unit. And I was told that I need to have the belt "guitar string" tight.

sailbrd
05-14-2010, 06:15 PM
Mike,
I just had a stock cover and it ran 20# at 185 degrees, 800 rpm. That is consided good pressure. 34# is excellent.

Bobb and I had a talk about how tight to run belts. Do not think we settled on any agreement. I am hoping that the tensioner will apply the correct pressure. You setup is easier on the crank than mine. I think you should run the least pressure that can do the job. Will see how it works out when Bobb gets my motor done.

Anyone know where I can get boost ratings for a given diameter pulley?

My five inch pulley is not getting the boost I want.

For every tenth of an inch smaller you go, youll pick up roughly 1 lb. of boost

Got it all pretty now, just waiting for a smaller charger pulley to make more boost :Brow:

Have a five inch now and going to try a 4 and 1/4 inch that is going to be sent for a trail run.

Got cheap and painted to brackets the same color as the water pump instead of sending them out to have them powered coated like the timing cover and intake.

will make a new video in the next couple of days.

uploaded a new video with some changes I done.

In the past couple of days I learned a few things about Procharger's tech support.

Like the person that set my unit up thinks, They sell you the wrong stuff on purpose so you will buy the correct parts later from them.

I know it is a guessing game on a few things, but how long have they been doing this?

In my case, the pulley they said would work for me was not even close.

The pulley they sent was a five-inch.

After a couple of other pulleys later, I found that 4.38-inch got me were I need to be.

Looks done to me! I know lots of tuning but you should be out driving it. Are you just running you bypass to atmosphere? That's how I am running mine.

Waiting for Bobb M to call and tell me to come and get my motor. Wife doesn't care when he gets it done.

Finally made myself change the oil (seven quarts) and wash the dust off to start to get ready for Bowling Green.

After I made so adjustments to the BOV valve so that it will close under part thottle, I took the car around the block.

Now it is making power.
