what are you working on? Intake swap is the way to go..

I've done this years ago for two '68-'69 Wagoneers with 350 cid Buick engines. Buick 4-bbl manifolds are pretty common and I swapped manifolds. For one I used the Buick Quadrajet carb that came with the manifold for the other I got another carb. Really pleased with results. Mr. Ed

this is a 350 correct ? ( or did ya sneak in a 455 ) post questions threads up in the "small block" section for motor stuff - be sure and tell 'em its a jeep and they may want to know tire size , weight , gearing etc . a nice manifold will take $50-100 plus shipping ( cast - yike$ ! ) if needed . and if i'm gonna guess , they seem to be going up a little . a nice new TA dual plane will be $350.00 .
oem cast mod steps would probably be :
> basic port matching on the head side , and a little on the heads wouldn't hurt obviously .
> grinding away/blending the area between the primary and secondary holes on the carb pad - compare like an TA intake or sbc edelbrock performer intake with the oem buick and you'll get the idea - a couple guys have some pics up showing how they did it . may not need for a lower rpm torque motor .
> if ya run a holley/edelbrock pattern carb you will need an adapter ( 4 hole ) and if ya run a q-jet pattern carb you won't need an adapter but some suggest using a 1" spacer ( 4 hole with non mod carb pad , not sure if its been ground out ) .

I've been toying with the idea just to be different, about keeping my Rochester 2GV 2 bbl Carbs and getting the 4 bbl Intake Manifold and get the Vintage Speed multiple 2 bbl Carb adaptor and use them for 4 wheeling.

Anyone have any experience on using this on Buick 350v8's?
I don't want the bogging issues on inclines or descents on 4x4 trails.

functionality wise , i would either use a mod'd 2bbl intake with a well prepped 2bbl carb - some of those you can get @ 500cfm - should be plenty of cfm for torque , or a 4bbl intake with a off-road prepped 4bbl carb - not too big - maybe like 650 cfm max . keep the response/velocity up . one of our customers runs propane in his rock crawler - he said no matter what carb he ran - steep angles equalled problems . and i think multiple carbs may be a hassle also to keep set up perfectly . del

I would use a TBI setup for extreme angle wheeling. In a wheeling mag they rated the Q jet above all other carbs for offroading, however they all have thier limits for angles.
