Please pray for my mom!

Long story short mom went in for heart valve replacement surgery today. Expected to take 4-5 hours, well 9 hours, 2 valve replacements, and tripple bypass later:shock: .

Just got back from the hospital and all of this has definately been a shock on her body. They are going to keep her under heavy sedation until tomorrow afternoon sometime. She has about 8 tubes coming out from her body and another 10 going in.

I pray that she has the strength and the will to fight her way back to health.

Thank
Matt

Matt,

Originally from Ohio, my dad lives in Willoughby near you and went through this and was OK. I'm sure your mom will be fine and have a great recovery, our prayers are with you and your family.

My prayers are with you!

My Father went through 3 bypass surgeries over a 30 year period.
I know how scary it is to see a parent in intensive care afterwards.
But have faith. She will bounce back quickly.

Thank you all for the prayers.

Today, day 2, the good news is that here vitals are all good and stable and they have reduced some of her medication. The bad is they weren't able to get her to wake up. They stopped the meds that were keeping her sleeping at 5:00A.M and she still wasn't doing more than opening her eyes for maybe 2 seconds at a time at 7:00P.M.. They said the extra stress on her from the added time in surgery and her age are the biggest factors.

They are hoping tomorrow that she will wake and they can work on removing her breathing tube.

Please keep the prayers comming!

Thank you!

Thanks for all the prayers.

Just a short update.
The good: She has had a couple of the chest tubes removed only one left. She can sit up in a chair and walk to it with help. Several meds and IV lines have been removed.
The bad: She is very confused and doesn't know where she is or what's going on. Hope this is short term. They can't get her blood pressure regulated. She's having problems holding down food.

Doctors say she's making three steps forward and one step back and that everything that's happening was to be expected and should correct itself.

Only time will tell.

Thanks again!
Matt

Latest update. Mom was released from the hospital to a nursing home for physical therapy. She's still really confused but as far as the surgery goes all looks very good. Me on the other hand who's been dealing with all the doctors, insurance, and then tracking down a nursing home, I think I need to get a bed next to here because I'll be falling apart next.

I'm thankful that my wife Cheryl has been such a great help through all of this. She's making visits to see mom, making calls, and running around when I can't. She's also keeping me in check so I don't kill myself in the process. She even had me take the Buick out yesterday to blow some steam:Brow:

Thanks again for all the prayers.

Matt I'm very happy your mom is out! I have a friend in ICU right now w/ bypasses. I would stress out unbelievably w/ the paperwork and call you mentioned. Try to have your wife help. It will help with the stress. I have Brandy handle most stuff. It gets me really anxious.
We're here for ya!!!!! :beer
