exterior side trim

I have been looking for a while and i cant seem to find anywhere that makes side trim for my 78 4 door skylark, im looking to replace the trim that goes down the sides of the car in the middle of the doors. The plastic covering on the silver parts is peeling and i was wondering if i should just pull them off and paint them? or would it be easier to just buy new if thats even possible?

good question, try looking at other car types and see if they are the same ie. camaro, chevelle....
